This isn’t the first time we have dealt with activist characters. It’s deja vu all over again. Attention-grabbing judges and mayors have defied executive orders before, when the pandemic first started, and the courts ruled on our side – the law. I’m confident the outcomes to any suits will side with liberty and individual choice, not mandates and government overreach. We will fight mask mandates!

Lumberton and areas along Pine Island Bayou!
Tomorrow!!!
July 27, 2021
Commissioners Court Meeting at 10 am.
Please note item #31
There will be a workshop with Brampton discussing a long list of questions and concerns compiled by Judge McDaniels from what we the people have sent the court.
I will post the live stream link when it comes up tomorrow.
The water over the high school road was last Tuesday morning and not moving. Many residents north of the Y are seeing water back up more frequently.
We do know that a letter was sent by Hardin County to cease and desist any work in the development for now and that the city has also told them no more excavation of dirt at this time. This workshop, which will be open to the public and streamed is important.

A word from Judge McDaniel concerning the rumors about 421 Brampton Development.

I can tell you this is not a done deal in my mind. There are still unanswered questions and more to learn before I’m ready to vote up or down. I agree with you
I expected a minimum of 500 concerned citizens to attend last Tuesday night, that is why I asked LISD to allow us to hold the meeting there, and is also why I asked the Commissioners to meet after business hours. But, we counted about 104 residents in attendance and can hold that many at the Courthouse, so future discussions on this matter will most likely be held there.

I’ve asked for people to email me with their “for” or “against” and I think I’ve probably received about a dozen emails, for and against.

A few people have said it right
Many more families are coming to Lumberton whether we like it or not. The question is where, and how to get the infrastructure in place and do it right the first time.

As for drainage issues, that’s where a petition is in need
to create a Drainage District. Until that is done, drainage will continue to be a problem. Hardin County is way behind Jefferson and Orange Counties in this respect. Once a Drainage District is created, if ever, it will take decades to make adequate progress on drainage problems in Hardin County.

I asked why Mr. Hoffman or someone at their table did not answer the question about the connecting road (to my knowledge at that time it would be Callahan Lane) and was told that they did not answer that question out of respect for the County. I attempted to answer the question during the meeting and was informed it was not our question to answer, and that we could not legally answer any questions. I hate that as it could and should have been cleared up right then.

Since Tuesday night, I have confirmed that the connecting street to Keith Road from the LongLeaf neighborhood is proposed to be Callahan Lane. However, is that part of Phase I? I don’t know. This is just one of the questions I intend to find out about between now and the next time we meet, which I anticipate will be mid-July.

Someone on here mentioned that we are having a meeting this week, but not allowing the public to attend. That is a meeting between me and Commissioner young to discuss next steps. I want to make sure that no one thinks we’re trying to hold a secret meeting without the public’s involvement. Although, I know some cannot be convinced of that, regardless. I have invited other officials who attended the public meeting to attend the meeting with Commissioner Young and me so they can provide their input as well. There will be no other Commissioners at this meeting, nor any representatives of the developer.

I want to say again, this is not a done deal, one way or the other. I have only discussed this with Commissioner Young since this proposed development is in her Precinct. I cannot discuss it with any other County Commissioner without violating the Open Meetings Act
 but, you can!

Did you know that the City of Lumberton has no drainage study or plans? Each new development now digs the required retention pond and sends all the water down to Boggy Creek on Keith Rd. With all the new projects, water is starting to back up into areas that don’t normally have water. Many of those retention ponds don’t even have working parts as I saw in the Heights today.
If we can’t come up with a plan to drain the water without knowingly flooding other parts of our community then how can we possibly think a mini city in the Boggy Creek water shed not affect the entire Lumberton Area in negative ways? Our town doesn’t have the ability or willingness to fix current drainage issues yet they see no issue with adding 5000 lots for homes- 5000 -to the Boggy Creek Water Shed?
This affects the entire town. Please join us at the Lumberton High School PAC Tuesday June 15th (tomorrow) at 6:00 pm to voice your concerns. Each person will be given 3 mins. A showing is crucial. The County is providing this meeting and your concerns should be heard. The County is our last line of defense. The city had no problem ok’ing it. LMUD passed a bond for them and now the county and schools are at risk along with every tax paying citizen if we don’t voice our concerns. This meeting is vital.
