School of Thought: Are We Tapping Into the Legacy of Mr. Music Man, Kwadwo Antwi, Enough?

Did you know that Kojo Antwi was nominated for the BET Best International Act in 2010? That was a major global recognition yet today, it feels like his legacy isn’t being fully tapped by the current generation of creatives: the artists, producers, DJs, and even the fans.

This is an icon whose influence runs deep in Ghanaian and African music.
So here’s the question:
Why aren’t more artists actively learning from him?
Why aren’t producers sampling his sound?
Why aren’t DJs pushing his classics to newer audiences?
How many artists today can say they’ve collaborated with him in any form?

Kojo Antwi isn’t just a legend from the past he’s still here. Still creating. Still capable of sharing his wisdom. We shouldn’t wait for tribute concerts after he’s gone. The time to celebrate, learn from, and preserve his legacy is now.

A Legacy in Numbers and Impact

Kojo Antwi has released at least 22 albums including studio projects, compilations, and other works, each one a showcase of his signature fusion of highlife, reggae, soul, and Afro-pop.
His sound is timeless.
His lyrics? Poetic.
His style? Versatile.

Check out some of his recognitions, both national and international:
• West Africa Tourism Award
• All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA)
• Kora Award – Best Male Artist (West Africa)
• Our Music Award
• Inducted into the GRAMMY Museum’s “Sound of Africa” exhibit, honoring iconic African artists

• Multiple accolades at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA):

• Songwriter of the Year
• Artist of the Year

• First Ghanaian artist nominated for a BET Award – Best International Act, 2010

If you’re an artist, producer, DJ, or music student, the blueprint is right here.
Find him. Learn from him. Work with him.
Kojo Antwi isn’t just a treasure of the past, he’s a living masterclass in music, still waiting to be explored.

Which Kojo Antwi song do you know? When was the last time you heard it play.

Ghana has witnessed one of the darkest Wednesdays in our history.
Brave and gallant men, who dedicated their lives to safeguarding our water bodies, set out with noble intentions to protect what sustains us all as Ghanaians.
Their mission was rooted in hope, service, and a love for this nation.

May God protect their souls and grant them eternal rest.
We should never forget their sacrifice. THE FIGHT MUST BE WON 💔🇬🇭

School of Thought: Reflections on and the Stolen Car Saga”:

The Ghana Police retrieved 43 stolen luxury vehicles, one of which was linked to dancehall artist Shatta Wale. Though the car was reportedly recovered in June, Shatta Wale recently reacted strongly on social media. While he may have unknowingly bought the stolen car, ignorance of the law is no defense.

As a businessman involved in ventures like Shaxi, Shatta Wale is reminded of the importance of professionalism and protecting his public image. Instead of social media rants, he should have responded through his public relations team. His public criticism of the government and institutions is seen as unwise and potentially damaging.

Additionally, Wale’s alleged ties to an individual under FBI scrutiny raise further concerns about reputation and associations.

The piece concludes by emphasizing that this incident affects more than just one artist it reflects on the entire Ghanaian entertainment industry. For the industry to attract investors and grow, it must maintain professionalism, integrity, and trust.

School of Thought: Should Be Telling Women How to Spend Their Money?

Why should Renner be telling women what they should use their money for? Her recent comments urging women to save up for land instead of buying wigs raise important questions about personal choice and financial discretion.

Appearing to promote her newly released reggae music “Grateful” on .7fm with , Renner was asked about her new hairstyle. She confidently stated that nothing makes her feel more African than wearing her bald head. She went on to suggest that more women should embrace natural hairstyles and stop pressuring their partners for money to buy wigs or fix their hair.

According to Renner, women should focus on natural beauty and channel their money into more meaningful investments like purchasing land rather than spending it on expensive hair and beauty products.

While her message may resonate with some, particularly those advocating for African pride and financial empowerment, it’s also likely to stir controversy especially among women who view beauty and self-expression as a personal right.

After all, isn’t how a woman chooses to present herself and how she spends her money a matter of individual choice and personal discretion?

Unsurprisingly, reactions will be mixed. Some women may feel judged or misunderstood by Renner’s comments, while many men may appreciate the sentiment especially in a cultural climate where financial responsibility is becoming a central conversation in relationships.

At the same time, her statement could potentially ruffle feathers within the beauty and wig industry. Renner’s stance seems to challenge the very foundation of a lucrative business suggesting a shift away from artificial beauty toward natural African aesthetics. Could this put her at odds with companies that rely on the continued demand for wigs and hair extensions?
