I cannot figure out what to do with my son's windows, which are 2 different sizes... We need blackout curtains, but I cannot decide whether to use 1 rod and 3 panels — which I cannot find 3 dino panels my 4yo approves of, anyway. Or should I use 2 separate rods and attempt to make them look like they're the same size (i.e., setting the smaller one wider than the actual window)? Please help! Pictures for ideas would be greatly appreciated; I'm a visual person.

Recently I stayed in a hotel, let's call it a Lodge for Travellers, in London, and noticed the carpet went up the wall where the skirting board should be.

I've stayed in a lot of hotels, in many countries, over the years and can't say I've noticed this before.

It got me wondering why they have done this?

And then I thought the good people here maybe able to answer this question as a quick Google didn't bring anything useful up.
