Industry Night is weekly, variety show featuring Chicago’s top comedic talent on the one night a week the rest of our theaters are dark! Stand-up, improv, sketch – you name it! Every Monday, comedians come to showcase new material in this wildly energetic and intimate show. Industry night is perfect for everyone, from hardcore comedy enthusiasts, to tourists looking to do something on a Monday night!

Poetry @ The Green at 320 continues for the summer season this July!

The Chicago Poetry Center and The Green at 320 S. Canal are proud to reintroduce this free, weekly reading and open mic series co-curated by CPC’s Poets in Residence Tarnynon Onumonu and Timothy David Rey.

Join us on Monday nights in July at 6:00 pm in this beautiful setting to hear outstanding featured poets perform their work in this partnership between Chicago Poetry Center and The Green at 320 S. Canal. After every poetry performance, there will be an open mic for any individual that would like to share poetry of their own!

Taking place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 14, 15 and 16, this top-ranked three-day show in the heart of Chicago’s vibrant downtown attracts locals and tourists alike, giving them plenty of time to enjoy the art of 140 juried artists from near and far. Located just a few blocks north of Millennium Park, guests will see an array of original artwork including paintings, ceramics, photography, furniture and more, at all price points. Festival food, live music, artist demonstrations, selfie stations, face painting, and the brand new “Kids Art Stops” where artists invite children to stop at their booth to learn more about the art-making process, add to the family-friendly vibe of the fest.

Admission is free and parking is available in the nearby Millennium Parking Garage. Dogs are welcome as long as they are leashed and friendly. Attendees are invited to bring their gently used art to the festival where it will be donated to the Chicago Furniture Bank, a nonprofit that distributes furnishings and art to those leaving shelters and moving into permanent housing.

Water People Theater (WPT) announces its WPT STUDIO Kids’ All for the Planet: One Planet for All, a bilingual (English/Spanish) musical, summer creative lab for children ages 6 – 11 years old, July 10 – 21.

Classes are held weekly Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Merle Reskin Garage Theater at Steppenwolf Theatre, 1650 N. Halsted Street. Each week session is $160 per child with discounted admission of $300 when students register for both weeks. Water People Theater provides scholarships and discounted enrollment to vulnerable, socioeconomically disadvantaged, immigrant and children with special needs, more information Registration and information on scholarships and discounted enrollment are now available at WaterPeople.org.

Yappy Hour is scheduled to take place on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 5pm-8pm.

Each month The Northman Beer & Cider Garden will host dog lovers and their 4-legged best friends to gather in a reserved area of our shaded Pergola for a Chicago Riverwalk “Yappy Hour”. We will also be partnering with local pet vendors every month. The featured vendor will be onsite with promotional swag and treats for the pups at each event.

Personality: The Lloyd Price Musical

From humble beginnings in his hometown of Kenner, Louisiana, Lloyd Price overcame incredible obstacles on his way to a revolutionary musical career. He became the first Black man to open a nightclub below Harlem in New York City, and the first recording artist of any color to create his own record label, generating more hits like “Stagger Lee” and “Personality,” and spreading the New Orleans R&B sound throughout the world.
