Does having ADHD make everything feel like an avalanche every day?
Supporting aging parents. Raising kids. Keeping up with work.
And no matter what you do, someone is getting a version of you that is stretched too thin?
That was me.
Work calls from hospital parking lots. Meds and food reminders intermingled with calendar invites.
A team looking to me for project updates, my daughter looking to me for a tickle fight.
It’s absurd to be under an avalanche and watch the world continue to turn. When we have ADHD, we often blame ourselves because we're used to it being our fault.
But don’t get it twisted - you aren’t weak.
You’ve been strong for too long.
Stuck is a signal that something needs to shift.
Not a verdict that you are the problem.

🚨 ADHD Motivation Built on Shame

Be honest… are you actually motivated—or just afraid of disappointing people?

A lot of ADHD “motivation” isn’t excitement… it’s panic, guilt, and shame.
Deadlines. People being mad. Last-minute pressure.

That’s not drive—that’s your brain running on survival mode.

🧠 The problem?

It works… but it burns you out.

Once you see this pattern, you can start working with your brain instead of against it.

⚠️ Perfectionism Isn’t a Trait—It’s a Coping Skill

What if your “perfectionism” isn’t who you are… but what you learned to survive?

For a lot of ADHD women, perfectionism becomes the rule:
“If it’s flawless, no one can criticize me.”

So you overwork. Overthink. Over-polish.
Just to feel safe enough to be done.

🧠 But that’s not high standards—
that’s fear of criticism running the show.

Have you ever felt like your entire life happens in the margins?

Work calls in parking lots.

Emails from the driver’s seat.

Childcare pickups and car sickness on your lunch break.

And no matter how hard you try, you’re failing and it’s your fault.

That was me.

I was taking client calls between childcare pickups, trying to sound calm and capable while my brain tracked traffic and “do we have enough wipes” at the same time.

I would hang up from these calls and immediately feel like both a bad worker and bad mom.

My reward was waking up to do it all again the next day.

Nobody’s going to tell you how insane this is.

Nobody’s going to invite you to stop.

Especially when their comfort rests on how much you can pile on yourself.

🧠 Designing for People Who Feel Ashamed

Most products assume people will follow through…
but what if your users already expect themselves to fail?

If someone downloads your product and doesn’t use it, they don’t just forget—
they feel guilt, shame, and avoidance.

That changes everything.

⚠️ Better design isn’t just features—
it’s removing the shame barrier.

Give people permission to show up imperfectly…
even if they didn’t use it “right.”

That’s how you build products people actually come back to.

🚨 The To-Do Hack You Won’t Ignore

Your to-do list isn’t the problem… it’s why you ignore it.

Endless digital lists = instant overwhelm → brain checks out.

This trick forces you to limit your tasks AND keeps them right in your face—so you literally can’t forget them.

⚡ Fewer tasks.
⚡ More pressure (the good kind).
⚡ Way harder to ignore.

If you keep avoiding your to-do list… this is why.
