Produced by the Glentoran Supporters Committee (1923), the Gazette recently claimed the accolade of NIFPCC Programme of the Year for the 13th season running. This Saturday sees the opening league game for Glentoran and we welcome Limavady United to the Oval. It also marks the return of 80th season of the Glentoran Gazette in local football .
As usual your Gazette is jammed packed with articles , opinions , stats and photos.
The Editorial has a look at the possibilities of local football moving to Summer football. Philip Stevenson continues his Sketch in Time series , this time focusing on our most successful manager, Roy Coyle.
There's also Declan Devines notes , setting the scene for the game.
We look at the new arrivals in the summer at the Oval , whilst also turning the focus on our visitors.
Brian McCleland commences a feature on the career of Peter Doherty and John Grayden has a look at the
attendance figures in the local game.
Henry Mulgrew casts his eye over the World Cup and we also have club news and stats along with excellent photos of our Europen games , home and away with RFS.
Yet another well filled edition and terrific value for only £4.

Incredibly as it may seem , tomorrow night marks the start of Volume 80 of the Glentoran Gazette , with our first edition of the new season.
As you can see from the sneak preview of the cover for our game with RFS , our designer Beth has came up with a superb new concept, which will change from match to match. Cover star for Issue 1 , is Aaron McEneff.
As we said earlier we have reached Volume 80 , a marvellous achievement by everyone concerned from Editors , Designers , Contributors, Photographers and our Sellers. However , we also appreciate you the fans , who have loyally purchased a Gazette over the years and hopefully will continue to do so. Without this superb support we simply could not continue.
We have kept the price at £4 again for all full-sized editions.
The European editions are always eagerly sought , so we would ask that you buy yours early to avoid disappointment. Remember kick off tomorrow night is scheduled for 7.30pm !!
Let's hope for another memorable European night and all at the Gazette wish Declan and the team all the very best for the game.

And just like that , football returns!!
Just to make you aware , we have produced an eight page , triple issue to cover the three main pre Season games against Caernarfon , T.N.S. and Kilmarnock. We felt that we couldn't let these games pass without some sort of programme to mark them. Hence the eight page, priced at £2.
Our first Glentoran Gazette of the season will be launched at our home European game with R.F.S.

It is with great pleasure that we announce that today the Glentoran Gazette was voted as Programme of the Year for a wonderful 25th year in row. To say we are delighted is an understatement.

1923 Club Chairman , Jimmy Carter , who doubles up as Gazette Editor, received the award from NIFPCC Chairman , David Hand and took the mic to thank the NIFPCC for the award which will proudly go on display in the 1923 clubrooms, along with the others. Jimmy was also presented with his own momento by Vice Chairman, Philip Stevenson. On hand also was Club Secretary , David Blanchflower .

On behalf of all at the 1923 may we thank all our contributors and designer ,Beth for all their efforts during the season and not forgetting our Programme sellers and of course everyone who purchased a Gazette last season. Thank you.

Tomorrow sees our 25 Gazette of the season , a terrific season for us all and hopefully it will finish with a flourish and see Glentoran over the finish line in first place.
As ever , our Programme sellers will be in their usual place to greet you as they have done for the last forty years or so. That's on average 25 games a season for the last 40 years , that's 1000 games!! What an achievement and true dedication to the club. Well done everyone and a big thank you as ever to all our regulars who purchased a Gazette at each home game. Your support really does make all the hard work , so worthwhile.

As we come to the final run in to the season , everyone at the Glentoran Gazette and Glentoran Supporters Committee (1923) would like to thank our loyal fans who have purchased the Gazette throughout the season , especially those who bought those Gazettes from the rearranged games recently. So much so , that they were sold out on the day. A fantastic achievement, thank you.
The aim and purpose of the Gazette and the 1923 , is to support the parent club financially when possible. With this in mind , we as a club are delighted to announce that we will be Match Sponsor on Saturday for the game v Linfield. Hopefully it can be a winning combination and the Glens secure another vital three points.

Tomorrow night sees Glentoran play their game in hand v Cliftonville and hopefully after the disappointment of Sunday , the team can bounce back and secure three points.
As for ourselves at the Gazette we again have to sell the original Gazette for the game originally scheduled for January. As usual we again thank everyone for their support in the past and hope that this will again follow tomorrow night.
Thanks again , see you down there in the usual place and lets all get behind Declan Devine and the team , for what we hope will be a great end to the season.
