In 1981, just after John passed, Paul and Linda invited legendary rockabilly musician Carl Perkins to stay with them on the Island of Montserrat, where producer George Martin had a studio. Paul wanted Carl’s help in recording a song called “Get It” for his new “Tug of War” album.

It was literally just weeks after John’s murder, and both George and Ringo came to spend time with their former bandmate.
The night before Carl was scheduled to leave, a song came to him that summed up his warm feelings about the visit. The song was so clear in his mind that he didn’t even write it down, which was unusual for Carl.

The next morning he played the song, “My Old Friend”, for Paul and Linda, explaining that it was a gift for having him as a guest.
Halfway through the song when Carl sang the words “if we never meet again this side of life, in a little while, over yonder, where there’s peace and quiet, my old friend, won’t you think about me every now and then?”
Paul stood up and abruptly left the room with tears streaming down his face.

Not sure what had just happened, Carl stopped playing, and Linda hugged him. She thanked him for helping Paul grieve, explaining that he hadn’t been able to fully break down since John passed.

Paul later explained that the last words John spoke to him in the hallway of the Dakota building were “think about me now and then old friend”.

Thank you to Boris for this story and photo. ❤️

I am a 911 dispatcher. I take emergency calls, offer emergency medical instruction until EMS arrives, and dispatch units to calls as well.
I’ve been doing it for about four years, and I’ve heard some of the worst things you can imagine. It takes a toll on you, mentally and emotionally. Usually, I’m pretty good at dealing with the aftermath but today I’m on a mandatory 16 hour shift so I’m tired, cranky, and just overall done with today… so of course that’s when I get a su***de call.
Minor child hung herself, mom discovered her and cut her down. I already have the call over for dispatcher to get the ambo rolling. Mom wants to try CPR so I start walking her through the process.
I don’t know if it was because the daughter was my own son’s age or the way the mother was begging her daughter not to go or the way she was obviously choking down the hysteria while she counted those compressions with me, but this call broke me. I told the supervisor I needed a break when I was able to disconnect and drove to the gas station to get a drink. I was sitting in the parking lot in front of the store and I broke down. Ugly crying, chest heaving, panic attack break down. And I just kept imagining what that mother was going through.
Someone knocked on my window and I look over to see the little old woman who owns the gas station. The store is about 5 minutes from the call center, so all the dispatchers are pretty familiar faces to her. She motioned for me to roll down the window, which I did. She handed me a to-go cup of hot chocolate and a plastic bag with stuff in it, cupped my face with one hand and told me “You do good, too. Remember the ones you saved when you can’t forget the ones you weren’t able to.”
Then she smiled and walked back into the store. The bag had a double chocolate chip muffin, a bag of Swedish Fish, a pack of tissues, and my favorite energy drink in it.
Thanks, Margaret, for being there when I didn’t even know I needed someone to be there. And for remembering your customers so well that you understood wh

"This is my ex. This right here is more valuable than gold. This is a man who doesn't pay a dime through the state because when my son needs new clothes, I just call him. This is a man who buys a bundle of kids' movies on Vudu so even I can enjoy them with my son in my own home. A man who drops off the $45 box of pull-ups at my front door so I don't have to load him up and go to the store. One who takes his son in 10 min notice far often than he should because I have too much to get done or just need a nap. This is a man who listens to me cry because I'm stressed out. This is a man who tells his son not to forget mommy's boyfriend when he lists his favorite people off the top of his head...A man who rushes over because we got locked out of the house or spends his evening fixing something for us. This is a man who labeled the presents he bought his son from "mommy" because mommy couldn't get him as many. A man who still watches my sister's kids so our son can be with his cousins. One who accompanies me to meet strangers from Craigslist to ensure we are safe. This is the diaper-bag-wearing, chocolate-milk-making, selfless, protective, generous, accomplished FATHER to my son.
The amount of obstacles we've had to overcome to get to this point are tremendous. This was not easy, this was a choice. Stop giving excuses and come together for your children. I'm the most stubborn person that I know and forgiveness came easy to us for the sake of our son. And because of that, I see my son every single day. We always welcome each other's presence.
In case I haven't told you lately, I'm grateful for you. Most importantly for the motivated individual you are and how you provide Pierson with a phenomenal role model despite the foundation you once had. I love the amount of love my son will always have from you."

"I just wanted to share with you guys at ARRIVA what happened to My 16 year old son on Saturday morning at Harrogate train station. My son was to leave barracks Friday at 5 for compassionate leave due to his grandad passing away however he was held up and couldn't leave until the next morning. He called the train line and changed the ticket to next morning and they said all was fine and details have been changed and you're good to go for tomorrow. Come 7am Saturday morning Ewan arrived at the train station and boarded fine. The conductor then came round who told him his ticket wasn't valid. My son explained what had happened, showed the conductor the 12 minute phone call to the train line on his phone from when he changed the details of travel but conductor said they hadn't changed it properly and his ticket wasn't valid. He couldn't get hold of me (I was still asleep after being up all til 3am with little ones ear ache) to pay for another ticket so he was stuck. BUT instead of throwing My son off the train the conductor of Harrogate station (A Mr Peter Foster ) PAID FOR MY SONS TICKET !!! He literally bought a stranger a £55 ticket with his own bank card there and then and trusted he would pay him back on his return journey. He gave my son his name and number and didn't take any details from my son, said 'no need I trust you.' When my son told me what had happened it made me cry, such a kind act. I sent Peter a message thanking him and asking for bank details to pay him back and he replied with 'no problem always happy to help a serviceman in need' and yes I cried again.
Paying him back doesn't seem enough and I would like ARRIVA to know what a great human being the conductor at Harrogate is and Mr Peter Foster I thank you again from the bottom of my heart ❤️ as does my son ###. Please can people share so ARRIVA can see what a great guy they employ xx."

"So tonight I went to the Cincinnati Bengals Vs. Miami Dolphins game. As my friend and I were going into the stadium, I got stopped. Apparently you're not aloud to bring purses in that are bigger than a hand bag or so. Of course mine was bigger than a hand bag.. We had just walked a good amount of blocks and kick off was in less then 30 minutes. I wasn't about to run all the way back. (We had already went back once cuz we forgot the tickets.. Go figure) so here we are stumped and puzzled. I was about to say screw it and throw my purse away. A couple saw me struggling and gave me the suggestion of asking a homeless person to watch it for me. I was reluctant at first but then I figured, I was going to throw it away anyway just to get in so, why not? I walked over, my friend handed him a $5 bill and asked him if he'd kindly watch it until the game let out. He agreed. Not knowing whether or not he or it would be there when we got out, I put my faith in him. Sure enough, got out of the game, found him, and there he was, with my purse.
I guess what I am trying to say is, not all people can be judged just from seeing a certain situation they may be in or what they may look like. I took a stab in the dark. I didn't know this man. He had no home. No belongings. He sat there for three hours in the same spot. He told me he'd be there and that he'd have my purse. I thank him. It's not the purse I care about. It's the principal of someone still knowing and understanding the worth of keeping your word. God Bless you sir. I hope you can prosper into whatever you're looking for. Please share if you'd like to spread a smile or two." 🙏🏽

THIS 77-YEAR-OLD SCHOOL JANITOR NEVER HAD A BIRTHDAY PARTY UNTIL THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY THREW HER THIS HEARTWARMING SURPRISE
Frances Buzzard, a devoted 77-year-old janitor at Belle Elementary in West Virginia, always served with a smile, asking for nothing in return. 😊 No one at the school knew she never had a birthday party thrown in her honor — until the school's cook shared her story with other colleagues.
Moved by her quiet dedication, the staff and students planned a heartwarming surprise. As Frances went about her day, the loudspeaker called her to the cafeteria. Thinking she was needed for cleaning, she walked into a room bursting with balloons, birthday signs, and cheerful faces all shouting, "Surprise!" 🎉🎈
Her face beamed with joy as she was crowned with a tiara and draped with a sash, treated like royalty. Seated in a chair of honor, she watched a heartfelt video tribute from the students, followed by a joyous round of "Happy Birthday." 🎥👑
Touched deeply, Frances blew out her candles on a spread of cupcakes, overwhelmed by the kindness shown to her. Growing up in poverty, she never had such celebrations, making this gesture even more special. 🧁💖
This cherished moment, filled with simple joys and community love, was one Frances would hold dear forever, a true testament to the warmth and appreciation of her Belle Elementary family. 🥳💞

"While traveling from Akihabara Station in Tokyo to Tsukuba Station in the Tsukuba Express, this kid couldn't stop playing with me in the train. He would just go down, then peek, laugh and go down again. I enjoyed playing with him throughout my journey.
What really struck me was that when his parents got up to leave at their station, both of them bowed down to me and said ‘Arigatou Gozaimasu,’ which is Japanese for ‘Thank you very much.’ It felt a little strange but deep down it struck a chord and I realized how we have allowed gratitude to fade away from our lives. The kid’s parents had no obligation to bow down to me and thank me just for playing with their kid. Such a thing can only happen in Japan.
Those little things can make or break someone's day. Smile, say hello and show gratitude. The Japanese way of social interaction is one of the finest and we have a lot to learn."

My husband and his colleague were travelling on a remote road in South Australia. Thirty kilometres from the nearest town, they came upon a dog in the darkness walking along the side of the road.

He was old and very tired but happily jumped in their work vehicle. The men turned around and headed back to Coober Pedy. There, they stopped at the local Police Station which was closed at the time. Using Facebook, they found a lost dog post and contacted the owner. The 13-year-old dog had been missing for 6 days and she was starting to lose hope.

The men dropped Max off with his owner and then headed back out.

THESE LITTLE GIRLS INSIST THEY’RE TWINS BECAUSE THEY "HAVE THE SAME BIRTHDAY AND THE SAME SOUL."

Jia, who is blonde and Caucasian, and Zuri, an African American with black hair, met at school and instantly became friends.

The girls were at a birthday party and in line to get their faces painted when Jia told another girl that they were twins.

She gave her an odd look and replied, “There is no way you and Zuri are twins, you don’t have the same skin color!”

Her reply hurt Jia, and she started crying, but the little girl would not back down! She said, "You don't know anything because we have the same birthday and the same soul."

THEIR EXAMPLE OF LOVE AND SISTERHOOD MAKES THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE! ❤️

"Yesterday, as (my son) Sean and I traveled to NC for his soccer tourney we pulled off at a small gas station for a drink.
While I paid, I gave Sean the keys so he could head back out to the car.
It took me a little while to checkout and as I exited the store, I noticed Sean’s door opened and he was walking away from my car towards a man in a wheelchair.
He was an older African American gentleman, with amputated legs and appeared “homeless”.
My first reaction, sadly, was:
“Oh crap! He is hitting Sean up for money and has called him over.”
But as I walked closer Sean had clearly had a short conversation with the man, turned around and headed back to the car.
So I did the same.
As I entered the car, I asked him what that was all about. “Nothing Dad. I just was asking if he needed help.
He said no thanks, that he was fine but thanked me for asking.”
See, at first glance I didn’t even notice that the gentleman was attempting to cross a gravel parking lot, full of potholes, in a wheelchair using only his hands.
I didn’t notice that my 11yo child was man enough to see this in the mirror of my car, drop his electronics he was playing, get out and offer to help the guy.
As we began to leave Sean asked if we could give the man some money.
We pulled up beside him and I asked if he could use a few bucks.
He said:
“No thank you, I’m fine.
Your son was a real gentleman and gave me all I needed today. God Bless. ”
We rolled up the window and began to drive off.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Sean wave at him and he waved back with a huge smile on his face.
Would I have gotten out of the car and done the same?
I don’t post this looking for any praise for Sean.
I post this to expose a real nastiness we have in our world.
We spew such bile and hatred on every news channel, every Facebook post, every tweet.
It’s not a right or left thing.
We all do it.
We have forgotten to look at the world through the eyes of a child.
Sean wasn’t looking for praise for what he did.
He didn’t even know I would see it.
