On December 1, 2025, the Operations Management Club successfully held the event with the theme โ€œOM CAREER CATALYST: From Potential to Performanceโ€ at the Entrepreneurship Hall, an event specifically intended for 4th year Operations Management students who share the same vision of transforming their academic preparation into professional performance.

The program formally opened with the Invocation, followed by the Philippine National Anthem and the Bicol University Hymn. After this, welcome remarks were delivered, setting the tone for an afternoon of learning and engagement. The event highlighted the important role of Operations Management students as future industry leaders and underscored the importance of honing both technical skills and character.

The first guest speaker, headed by SFO1 Bernardino G. Garcera, opened his session with a group activity that tested each groupโ€™s qualities as potential leaders. Through this activity, OM4 students were challenged to collaborate, make decisions under pressure, and demonstrate initiative. SFO1 Garcera emphasized that social responsibility, personal accountability, resilience, critical thinking, and volunteerism are core factors in becoming a good leader, reminding students that leadership is less about position and more about service and integrity.

After the insightful first lecture, the participants enjoyed a snack break coupled with a fun mini game designed to freshen up the mood and lighten the students. Five students joined the game, bringing fun and laughter to everyone. In the end, Angelie Lazona declared as the winner, adding a memorable highlight to the dayโ€™s program.

The second guest speaker, Nelson A. Aguilar, then took the stage to share his inspiring journeyโ€”from being an OJT student and graduating learner to becoming a Replenishment Planner at Lion Commercial Corporation. His talk centered on how students can transform internship experiences into career success, emphasizing the value of professionalism, adaptability, and continuous learning. By sharing real-life experiences, he encouraged OM4 students to treat every internship task as an opportunity to build competence and credibility for future employment.

To formally close the event, Event Head Mary Gwyneth A. Callos delivered the closing remarks, expressing gratitude to the speakers, organizers, and participants for making the activity a success. She reiterated the goal of the program: to move from merely recognizing oneโ€™s potential to consistently performing and leading in the field of Operations Management. As the last event of the OMC for this year, OM Career Catalyst ended the clubโ€™s calendar on a successful and empowering note, truly serving as a meaningful stepping stone for OM4 students as they prepare to enter the professional world.

The Operations Management Club successfully held a seminar titled โ€œThriving In OM: A Day for Health, Mind, and Academic Successโ€ on December 01, 2025, at the CBEM Entrepreneurship Hall. The event aimed to strengthen studentsโ€™ understanding of mental health, promote holistic well-being, and equip them with essential first aid and life-saving skills.

The program formally began at 9:00 AM with an invocation, followed by the Philippine National Anthem and the BU Hymn. At 9:13 AM, Vice President for Finance Sophia Cenna P***s, delivered the welcome remarks to open the event.

At 9:15 AM, the first guest speaker was introduced, beginning a discussion centered on mental health challenges and self-care practices relevant to students. The speaker emphasized the scarcity of mental health professionals in Albay, reinforcing the importance of awareness and early intervention. He reminded students of the value of adequate sleep in maintaining focus and academic performance. โ€œHindi na puro aral lang tayo,โ€ he added, highlighting the need for rest and unwinding to achieve holistic growth. He also tackled the concept of social functioning, familiar to Social Work students, including indicators of functional well-being such as oneโ€™s โ€œsocial batteryโ€ and even behaviors like stress eating. Students were encouraged to practice self-awareness, seek support, and acknowledge their limitations. โ€œHindi tayo superhero na kaya mag-function with 3 to 4 hours of sleep,โ€ he reminded.

The speaker addressed stigma surrounding mental health help-seeking and encouraged vulnerability, self-care, and occasional self-reward. Hotline numbers and the DSWD support page were provided for those needing professional assistance. His talk concluded at 10:01 AM, followed by an open forum at 10:02 AM and the awarding of her certificate at 10:12 AM. An intermission number proceeded at 10:15 AM.

At 10:20 AM, representatives from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) delivered the second major session, focusing on First Aid and Basic Life Support. They covered fundamental concepts including standard first aid, its goals, and the responsibilities of a first aid provider. The speakers emphasized the crucial need for students to know basic first aid, especially during emergencies occurring at school where medical personnel may not always be presentโ€”particularly during night classes. The session continued with instructions on responding to injuries including head and neck conditions, lacerations, punctures, and even amputations.

A comprehensive explanation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) followed, including the difference between a heart attackโ€”a sign indicating a heart or vessel problem, and cardiac arrest, where the victim becomes unresponsive. Students were taught when to start, stop, or avoid performing CPR, along with the correct posture and steps. At 11:30 AM, the BFP team conducted a hands-on chest compression activity. Three volunteer pairs practiced CPR under instructor supervision. The activity ended at 12:06 PM. The awarding of certificates and tokens for the BFP speakers took place at 12:09 PM.

Closing remarks were delivered at 12:13 PM by the event head Kyla Joy Baliwas, 4th Year Representative. The seminar officially concluded at 12:15 PM, marking the success of a program that not only deepened studentsโ€™ understanding of mental health but also armed them with essential knowledge and skills for real-life emergencies.

On November 29 2025, the Operations Management Club successfully wrapped up their afternoon event held via zoom. Together with the two valuable and professional guest speakers, the afternoon filled with insights, knowledge and learnings from the corporate expert.

The webinar session โ€œOperations Unfiltered: Tsaa-ckling Careers, Real Talk from the Expertsโ€ featured two distinguished speakers Jimmy M. Celeste Jr. And James Paulo Bobiles, who shared inspirational stories about their journey, learnings and challenges that shape their professional path, offering students a glimpse of possible careers they want to navigate. One of the speakers highlighted that โ€œIt's always good to aim high than to keep lowโ€, reminding students that never afraid to go outside the box and take a brave step towards achieving their goals.

To keep the energy high the organizers also prepared exciting games where several students won small cash prizes. An Open forum segment was also included giving all the participants the opportunity to seek advice and ask questions to the speaker about their career development, work related challenges and how they manage to overcome those challenges. This kind of event gives the participant a chance to reflect on what career they really want to pursue in future and inspire them to take all challenges as opportunities to learn.

The event ends exactly at 3: 50 PM, leaving a student with a more equipped knowledge about the realities of climbing the corporate ladder.

Fourth-year BSBA Operations Management student, Elmerlisa Armario Llaneta, has distinguished herself as the first COMS Assessment Examination passer from her block this yearโ€”earning the 9th spot nationwide in the recent assessment conducted online by the Center for Professional Advancement and Continuing Education, Inc. (CPACE) last November 15, 2025. This batch saw a nationwide overall passing rate of 73.68%.

Elmerlisa shared that her journey to the top was filled with unexpected hurdles. โ€œWhen I found out that I had passed the examination and made it to the top, I was honestly very surprised. That day, I was dealing with some personal challenges, so I didnโ€™t expect such good news. My friends were the ones who told me, and their excitement made that day special. At first, I couldnโ€™t believe it and needed a moment to process everythingโ€”and that was the moment that challenges I went through suddenly felt worth it,โ€ she recounted.

The night before the exam, her laptop malfunctioned, causing her significant stress as she scrambled to find a replacement. โ€œOn top of that, Bagyong Uwan also caused power outages during the weeks that I needed to review, which made it difficult for me to study consistently,โ€ Elmerlisa added, recalling the struggles brought by technology and weather disruptions.

Nevertheless, she stood her ground and persevered through adversity. Her message to fellow Opsman students preparing for the COMS Assessment is both motivating and sincere: โ€œLooking back from my experience, there are moments where I felt impossible and I doubted myself. Now, I realized that challenges are not setbacks, they are opportunities that want us to grow and shape us for our success. To my fellow Opsman, I want you to believe in yourself and never lose sight of your dreams. Donโ€™t pressure yourself too much. If I was able to make it, you can too. Your dreams are possible as long as you donโ€™t give up on yourself.โ€

Elmerlisa Llaneta marks a success as the first Operations Management student in her block to become a Certified Operations Management Specialist this year, joining the ranks of past examinees who have raised the standard for future batches. Her words resonate strongly, reminding us that behind every recognition is a story of resilience, and that believing in yourself is the key to making your dreams come true.

Today, November 10, 2025, the Student Regent and Faculty Regent of Bicol University have formally submitted a request letter to the Office of the University President, appealing for the implementation of an asynchronous learning setup until November 14, 2025, in light of the severe aftermath of Super Typhoon Uwan.

The letter underscores that numerous households, including those of students, faculty members, and staff, have been gravely affected by widespread flooding, property damage, and prolonged power outages. Many communities across the region remain without stable electricity, communication networks, and internet connectivity, while transportation systems and public mobility continue to be disrupted.

Given these conditions, both students and faculty members face significant barriers in accessing digital platforms and attending synchronous or in-person classes. The regents emphasized that adopting an asynchronous setup would allow members of the university to prioritize their safety, recovery, and immediate needs.

On Monday, November 3, 2025, the Operations Management Club successfully held its first General Assembly for the Academic Year 2025-2026 at the Entrepreneurship Hall. With the theme, โ€œ๐™€๐™ข๐™ฅ๐™ค๐™ฌ๐™š๐™ง๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™‘๐™ž๐™จ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ: ๐˜ฝ๐™ช๐™ž๐™ก๐™™๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™๐™ค๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™™๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™จ ๐™›๐™ค๐™ง ๐™– ๐™Ž๐™ฉ๐™ง๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™š๐™ง ๐™๐™ช๐™ฉ๐™ช๐™ง๐™š,โ€ the event brought together first year to fourth year members of the Operations Management Club. The venue was filled with energy, excitement, and a shared sense of purpose for the Academic Year ahead.

The General Assembly started with an Invocation, the playing of the National Anthem and the Bicol University Hymn. It was followed by the Welcome Remarks read from the letter given by Dr. Emily M. Agonos, OMC Adviser. The presentation of Committee Members and the pinning of Officers was a highlight of the event. The presentation of the Constitution and By Laws was discussed by Jamesy Gladys Amirah Bobiles, OMC President to properly introduce the fundamental principles of the club, the responsibilities and rights of its officers and members, and the working guidelines of the organization. The organization's activities and expenses from the previous academic year (A.Y. 2024-2025, 2nd Sem) was also presented, adhering to the transparency for its members. Moreover, the activities and the expenses for the 1st and 2nd semester, academic year 2025-2026 was presented by Francynn Radan, VP for Outreach and Activities, and Sophia Cenna G. P***s, VP for Finance consecutively. The Income Generating Projects of the club were also discussed by Mary Gwyneth Callos, VP for Careers and Corporate Relations.

The event also highlighted the presentation of the Association of Bicol Business Students discussed by Ms. Satomi Kamila J. Bueno, Albay Cluster Representative. The members were all very much informed and were all encouraged to join. The Champions for the participants of Laro ng CBEMIANS were also awarded, sparking the OM pride.

An intermission number performed by the talented OMC members entertained everyone in the assembly. The food pantry, the OMC Bingo Card, and the raffle draw made the 1st General Assembly even more exciting. All of the activities made everyone energetic and competitive, showing us the fun and chaotic side of the members. The first General Assembly was indeed successful, headed by Jamesy Gladys Amirah Bobiles, OMC President. From empowering vision to transcending it!

Our teamwork and commitment to excellence have transformed the page into more than just a digital publication, it has become a voice of the Operations Management community. With the publicationโ€™s tagline, โ€œOperating for the Press.โ€ our efforts serve as a reminder that success is not achieved overnight, but through the shared dedication of individuals who believe in their craft, their message, and in the peopleโ€™s right to know.

We advocate for press freedom and accuracy in information. We discourage malpractice in journalism and unethical reporting. Upholding these goals, we commit to integrity, honesty, and responsibility, aligning with press freedom principles.

In the weave of logistics lies a thread of truth โ€” one weโ€™ve always pursued. Our map is never static and the flow is always on point.

We write. We edit. We publish. And repeat. The Logistician is constantly Operating for the Press.
