If you’re one of the people who thinks a hoodie like this is funny or trendy, then you need to seriously rethink your life choices.

Glorifying m-rderers and r-pists ain’t it. It’s not quirky.. it certainly shouldn’t be a part of your personality.. and no one should be profiting off this absolute abomination.

You especially shouldn’t call yourself a “fan” if you have no respect for the victims and survivors of these monsters. There is no place for you in this community if these are the choices you’re making.

Any survivor of an SA or v-olent crime who sees this will know your opinions on their experiences and see that you have little regard for them, and instead just want to hold perps up on a pedestal.

It’s gross and you need to go to therapy.

I have emailed your media department 3 times in regards to one case, since the 24th of September.

I have not even had an acknowledgement of receipt of these emails, let alone a response.

I’m beginning to get concerned that there is a bigger reason I am not being responded to, or your media emails aren’t working?

I spent the morning speaking with Loren from this morning and it has left my head spinning.

There are so many ways in which we must INSIST true crime creators do better, because the fact that there is now a for-profit, true crime “entertainment” model that people have turned into their CAREERS is absolutely disgusting.

Especially when you know that creators on YouTube can be making between $2k-$20k+ for a sponsored video - can you IMAGINE what that could do for a missing person or a cold case?

Imagine what etc etc sponsorship money + YT adrevenue could do for these cases.

Loren told me that she has families who come across pretty American girls telling the story of the worst moment of their lives nonchalantly on YT, without even TRYING to contact them, just to even give them a heads up.

In what world is this good enough? I have so much that I could rant about because I’m so angry, but it has just further emboldened me to do better, lead by example, and continue to call these people out until they show change.

YOU ARE HURTING REAL PEOPLE. Real ppl left behind by heinous events. AND you’re profiting off it. Ugh.. I can’t.

When we are talking about the ethics behind true crime content, this is exactly it.

Daniel Morcombe’s family have hit out against Netflix’s upcoming Joel Edgerton film “The Stranger” which is loosely based on Daniel’s story.

A quote from The Guardian article says:

“…Bruce (Daniel’s father) and his wife, Daniel's mother Denise, argued that The Stranger was giving further notoriety to their son's killer. They said, "Its appalling storyline ignores our family’s pain and chooses to profit from 13-year-old Daniel Morcombe’s death. In a twisted way, it also provides oxygen to a sadistic beast by notarising his evil acts. Individuals who make money from a heinous crime are parasites."”

That last line… INDIVIDUALS WHO MAKE MONEY FROM A HEINOUS CRIME ARE PARASITES.

A direct quote from a family member of a victim of a heinous crime.

So why do content creators continue to IGNORE what is asked of them by families?

Bruce asks that rather than spending the money you would on watching this film, to donate to the Daniel Morcombe foundation.

And this is where Defrosting Oz hopes to be different. Once (if) we start to profits from this webseries. 50% of our profits will TRANSPARENTLY be donated to charities like MPAN and the Daniel Morcombe Foundation that provide DIRECT and FRONT LINE services.

The other 50%, will be used to keep expanding the series, as I am self funding the first season. When/if we get to a point of self sustaining, then 100% of profits will be donated - but I’ll only be happy when we have a prime time slot on television, or a streamer, or are established enough to be receiving over 1mil views on YouTube and all other platforms.

It’s also why we are only concentrating on long term missing persons and cold cases - are they frustrating, absolutely. Are they stories that are all tied up with a bow and and an ending? No, they’re not. But does that mean we ignore them? No.

There is a lot of planning and strategy that is going into this series to ensure we talk the talk and walk the walk.

It’s about making changes by leading with change and hoping others follow.

We will see.. I will be writing more about this soon.

**MISSING PERSON**

28-year-old Kerri Ragusa was last seen at 7:20pm in a shopping centre on Macquarie Street, Liverpool on Monday 8 August 2022.

Earlier in the day, she left her residence on Bilga St in Malabar at approximately 12:00pm.

Kerri has been reported missing since Tuesday 6th September when Eastern Beaches Police Area Command began inquiries into her whereabouts.

She is described as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance, approx 170cm tall, medium build, with black hair.

She was last seen wearing a black hoodie with white champion logo, black Calvin Klein tights (logo down the left leg), white ASICS sneakers, and a black hand bag with silver chain.

She is known to frequent Bankstown, Liverpool, Leichhardt, and Malabar.

7 year old Bella is missing.

She was last seen on Sladen Street in Cranbourne on Thursday 1 September.

It is believed she may be in the company of her parents in the Pakenham or Cranbourne areas.

Police have concerns for her welfare due to her age.

56yo Robert was last seen on Campbell St, Swan Hill, Victoria on 6/9/22 @ 06:45am.

Robert is Caucasian with short grey hair and was last seen in a grey hooded jumper, black tracksuit pants, black shoes and carrying a black backpack.

There are concerns for Robert’s welfare as his disappearance is out of character
