Oncorhynchus mykiss aguabonita (California Golden Trout)
A quick pit stop was all it took! First time ever chasing these little guys in their native range. Could have probably casted at these spunky fish all day long.

Oncorhynchus mykiss gilbertii (Kern River Rainbow Trout)
It seems I’ve been bit by the “blues” bug. Explaining why the high degree of success leaves me with more melancholy than elation.. isn’t always easy.. The width and breadth of all the angling inspired wanderings has allowed me to see a lot. Not often does a trip tilt my axis in such a dramatic fashion. Truly this might be one of my new favorite places on Earth. The landscape is awe inspiring and the native fish deserve the utmost admiration. But as the dust settles, there’s a very real chance I’ll never step foot in that granite canyon for the rest of my days.

Oncorhynchus henshawi ssp (Willow-Whitehorse Basin Cutthroat)
For my first time ever chasing native fish in Oregon, this was an absolute treat. This fish and many others like it were attacking my oversized hopper with some serious zeal. Not quite sure where the markings on his side came from, but they were mirrored (like claw marks). It could’ve been an aerial predator, hell it could’ve been a mink, but with how fast the fight was, I’m fairly confident it wasn’t from my line. Regardless this tank swam back strong into his beaver dam hideaway.
