Words I’m focusing on in this season:
-
P r a i s i n g
God is holy and deserves all my praise. When life is good, I’m will praise. When life is mundane, I will praise him. When life is hard, I will praise him.
-
H o l i n e s s
We are called to be set apart from the world. I’m asking God to help me live a holy life.
-
S t i l l n e s s
Life feels really busy right now. My to do list is unending. Regardless, I’m trying to cultivate stillness.
-
R o o t e d
As I am growing and forming my identity, I am trying to grow solid roots in Christ.

P e a c e
We talked about peace in youth last night, and it really stuck with me. We often have a distorted view of peace, that to be at peace life has to be perfect. That being at peace means being calm all the time.
-
On the contrary, being at peace just means knowing that Gods got it so you don’t have to. Knowing that you will overcome because God has.
-
Peace is not the absence of fear or sadness, rather knowing that in the end, that won’t have a hold on you, simply because God has a hold on you instead.

A lot of times we get hyper focused and very anxious about not having enough. We worry about not being smart enough. Not having enough of a plan. Not being talented enough. Not having enough friends. Not having enough money. We forget that we truly have all the we need. A God who provides. Who loved us. Who knows what we need.
-
Today, REMEMBER what all you need. REMEMBER that you already have it.

How often to we bask in what is unknown in our lives? In uncertainty? We borrow anxiety and tend to throw what we know about God and who He is out of the window.
-
The truth is, you will never know everything. There will always be an unknown and scary part of your life.
-
Although, we can find relief and true rest in the fact that God ALREADY knows.
-
He has you in His hand. He is in control. And even when you don’t know, He does.

Change is built into the rhythms of the world around us. The sun rises and the sun sets, children grow older, flowers die and flowers bloom, (and my personal favorite) leaves fall off trees creating a beautiful masterpiece. As we look at these natural changes of the world, we see the beauty in them and we see their God given purpose. Leaves fall off of the trees to make room for new ones to grow again.

Even knowing this, change in our own lives feels so uncertain, unnecessary, and painful. We don’t like change, even though like the falling of leaves, change is built into the rhythm of our lives. Relationships change, people change. Places change, lives change. We change.

Like we embrace the beauty of the changes of the world, let us embrace the changes of our own lives. Notice the beauty that is happening in the midst of shifts and uncertainties. Trust and have faith that God has good for you beyond change. Like change is built into the world around us and our lives, change is built into us. Lean into that today.

I love praying this prayer when I start my day, and before my quiet time! We also say it at my church before the sermon. Let me break down why I love this prayer for before Jesus/quiet time:
-
“Let the words of my mouth”
This brings the importance of our words into the conversation. Our words, spoken, written, or thought, can be a form of worship if we let them.
-
“And the meditation of my heart”
God is within us, and he knows our heart. Meditation also implies stillness and silence, which is what quiet time is.
-
“Be acceptable in your sights”
This takes it away from what is acceptable to us or the world around us, and back to God. Is what you are doing acceptable in GODS sight?
-
“O Lord my rock in my redeemer”
Like any good prayer, this line brings our focus back to the most important reason we are praying in the first place. Who God is. God is our rock, our constant and steadiness. God is our redeemer, our savior and the reason we have life.
-
Amen.
