I’ve been meaning to write this for quite some time, and it’s long overdue.
For those who’ve been wondering what I’ve been up to since stepping back from the metal detecting world—the short answer is… a lot. I feel I owe those who follow and support me a little update, so here it is.
Aside from a few personal and health matters that pulled me away from the hobby, in April 2024 I decided to chase my dream of becoming a professional photographer. I registered my new business as an LLC, earned my FAA Remote Pilot License (Part 107) to fly drones commercially, and began offering both ground and aerial photo and video services for private clients and businesses. On top of that, I built my own website and page to showcase my work, promote my services, and help others advertise through the content I create for their social media pages and websites.
What I didn’t expect was just how much time and energy it would take to get everything up and running. Between the business side of things and the creative work itself, it quickly became a full-time effort, working day and night and yes, the weekends too. Beyond building my own brand, I’ve also been working with local businesses producing content to help them reach new customers and grow their presence. So far, I’ve had the chance to support towns, non-profits and training facilities, as well as companies in landscaping, construction, roofing, and real estate, among others. At the same time, not all my work is business focused and shared. I also enjoy helping families capture special moments on camera, as well as providing home and land assessments for those who need them. I’ve even had the privilege of using my drone skills in a meaningful way by joining search and rescue efforts locally.
Other things going on:
Last winter, I quickly learned that my line of work slows down significantly during the winter months. Because of this, I recently trained for and earned my CDL, giving me the option of a part-time job in the winter while still maintaining the flexibility to continue building my business. I’ve also been encouraged by many people to start selling my photography, so after months of preparation and planning, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be launching an online store this September!
In conclusion:
Now that the dust has started to settle, I’m finding myself with a little more “free” time allowing me to enjoy some balance again. Just to be clear, I haven’t lost my love for metal detecting or history. In fact, the time away has only made me more eager to get back out there whenever I can. I’ve missed the adventures, and I’m looking forward to creating new memories and saving some history from the ground.
For those who have asked about YouTube content—I do plan to continue sharing videos. However, I don’t intend on going “full YouTuber status,” so please don’t expect weekly uploads like some creators are able to provide. Instead, I plan to enjoy my time with friends, the discoveries we make, and the adventures we go on, posting content when time allows. While it may not be frequent, I will still be sharing new locations, beautiful New England scenery, and some familiar faces with you all, along the way.
To those who have stuck around and reached out during my time away from the hobby, I want to personally thank you. I hope this post helps answer a lot of your questions. Your words of encouragement meant more than you know, and I can assure you, none of them went unnoticed.
If you’d like to follow along as I grow my business, feel free to visit my page through the post shared below of the 1700s farmhouse and property. Your support has always been a blessing, and any given on that side of things will be just as appreciated.
You’ll see me soon—that I promise! Until then, thank you for your support and happy hunting!
