Welcome to Taylorsville, Mississippi, a southern gem where you can find something for everyone! Start your visit with a trip to the Upper Leaf River, where you can canoe, fish, or swim. Then, take a step back in time when you visit the Taylorsville Depot or the Watkins Museum. Although you’ll need to request a tour, it is worth it to see the replica of the original train depot that brought train services to Taylorsville, as well as to see the home of the Taylorsville Signal (Taylorsville’s first newspaper) which is on the National Register of Historic Places. Stay on the move at the Taylorsville City Park, where you’ll find a 1/8 mile long paved walking track nestled in the curves of a pecan grove. If you visit the Crossett City Park, schedule a tour of the 3-room “mill house” or the Wiggins Cabin, both replicas of the original mills and home style of the 1930’s and 1830’s respectively. While you’re at the park, don’t forget to bring your fishing gear and/or boat and enjoy a day on Lucas Pond- a fully stocked, 51-acre pond with three fishing piers. Or, bring your walking shoes and/or bike and enjoy the sights on the nearly 3-mile concrete walking/biking trail.
