💭 What’s the last book you read without knowing anything about it?

If you love to read, write, or reviewing books—you should read this.

Book Review: Book Lovers
Rating: ★★★★★

This is my first EmHen book and I understand the hype!

I didn’t expect this book to hit me so hard. I’d heard a lot of positive reviews about the author, but this is the first time I finally decided to pick it up and read it.

WOW. It moved me—carving out its own space in my mind. And it’s a headspace I’m glad to dedicate a lot of room to.

After reading *Book Lovers*, so many thoughts have surfaced. Do I really want to be a writer? Or maybe I’m better suited as an editor—but that’s a discussion for another time.

In line with the book, I love the life within it. Of the lives of the main characters and how they fill in each other’s gaps. It’s not an “opposites attract” kind of love for them, because somehow, they mirror each other. It’s a matter of perspective that makes them perfect together—like two sides of the same coin, seeing the world from different angles.

Girl sees her faults and Boy sees the beauty in said faults and he’s like “You’re a shark? So what?”

With Emily Henry, it’s so crazy how on point she was. It’s like she’s the shark—Like she knows how to drag the readers with all the right tropes but in a way that she thought all the aspects through and blend them into harmony. Like she just didn’t thrown in the small town, (site other tropes in the novel).

Also I did not expect the humor. It was cute and funny—cutesy.

my found family 🥰

This post is dedicated to my friends whom I met online through books and who are now a constant presence in my life. ❤ I am so grateful for the love, support, and for understanding—although the latter is given already cos as book lovers, is a common trait in all of us.

Back then, I remember, I was just a student reader who encouraged my classmates to read. They enjoyed it too, but I guess not as much as I did. They had other hobbies they focused on, and reading was just something we did or talked about in passing.

But now, I’ve found my place in a community where everyone genuinely loves and gushes over books. I’m happy to be part of a group where I can share my thoughts freely without being seen as “weird” for it.

By the way, our group officially met in person during Thea Guanzon’s book signing event. We weren’t a group yet at the time, but that moment definitely marked the beginning of our friendship. ❤ That’s why our group chat is called “The Book Signing Team”—because that’s how we came together.

I’m just really glad I found this family. Here’s to many more chapters together :)

(PS: Aside from the book signing team, I’ve also met other book lovers who’ve become true friends to me. You’re just as much a part of this journey, and I’m so grateful for each of you.)

💭 have you made friends through books too?

💭What’s the last book that completely surprised you — good or bad?

I initially rated this book 3 stars, but as I wrote this review, it felt like it deserved only 2 stars.

It was okay. The story was promising, and the whole novel was fine, but it didn’t really leave a big impact on me. While the concept and storyline progressed at a steady pace, the peaks or dips in the novel were either minimal or nonexistent. The spark I usually look for in a sports romance just wasn’t there for me.

But, I must say, the book 2 looks promising too.

Blurb:

He’s the hot, grumpy goalie I had a crush on in high school... and now I’m his live-in assistant.

After my ex crushed my dreams in the music industry, I’m done with getting my heart broken. Working as an assistant for an NHL player was supposed to be a breeze, but nothing about Jamie Streicher is easy. He’s an intimidatingly hot, grouchy jerk who can’t stand me. The guy has a massive ego. Keeping things professional will be no problem, even when he demands I move in with him.

Beneath his surliness, though, Jamie’s surprisingly sweet and protective.

When Jamie learns how bad my ex was in bed, his competitive nature flares, and he encourages and spoils me in every way. The creative spark I used to feel about songwriting? It’s back, and I’m writing music again. Between wearing his jersey at games, rowdy parties with the team, and being brave on stage again, I’m falling for him.

He could break my heart, but it might be worth it.

It’s called Lit and Local, and it was started by some friends of mine. Our bookish theme for this month is Fall Into Reading, and I have tons of books I want to dive into. I’ll update you once I’ve finalized my list!

QOTD: Do you have any book suggestion that falls under our club’s fall into reading theme?

💭 What’s your month ender (book title) last month?

Last month was a blast! I almost fell into a reading slump, but audiobooks saved me yet again. I ended up finishing more than I expected, and a few titles really surprised me. Have you read any of these? I’d love to hear your thoughts or see what you’ve been reading too!

★★★★★
📖 Coronation by Cleo White
📖 Spicy Little Curses

★★★★
📖 Hot for Slayer
📖 Falling

★★★
📖 Behind The Net

★★
📖 Space Vampire

Last month was a blast—iykyk. A tiny spark that tried to break me. But I’m a trailblazer and the path I walk on is already burning. This fire in me is my strength and no spark can dull my flame.
