The Democracy Center presents the Los Angeles premiere of Out of the Picture, the first feature-length documentary about to be made in the U.S. The film explores the lives and work of essential and thinkers living through a precarious time for and .

After the film, join our panelists for a discussion about how to sustain and inspire the next generation of cultural writers in and beyond.

“Out of the Picture” takes us inside the lives of some of the most relevant writers on art today, thinkers who are making sense of a period of unprecedented change to art and media. For more than a decade, the filmmakers turned their cameras on critics navigating these rapidly changing landscapes, including Carolina Miranda, of the Los Angeles Times; Hrag Vartanian, Hyperallergic; Jen Graves, of The Stranger; .jenee Jeneé Osterheldt of The Boston Globe; and Seph Rodney, independent critic. “Out of the Picture” is poised to prompt a conversation about the nature of art, modern life, and how meaning gets made in the 21st century.

You may have heard, Wormfarm is 25 this year! We're grateful to reach this milestone and are looking ahead to the future.

After months of discussion, we’ve decided to conclude two of our longest-running and most beloved programs—the Farm/Art DTour and Fermentation Fest. While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, we never saw these programs as everlasting events, but as living experiments.

These programs have done their work. They’ve seeded other projects. They’ve fermented. And they’ve laid fertile ground for what’s to come.

We’re celebrating and moving forward with new experiments, including developments of two artist-led projects seeded during last year's DTour and an exhibit featuring 50 artists from our 25-year history!
