There are lots of fun things to do for the adventurous this weekend, including taking behind-the-scenes tours of the latest projects in Downtown Macon, celebrate Oktoberfest in Griffin with hot food and live music, and enjoy a free concert on Coleman Hill.

The Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC), a nonprofit organization that focuses on environmental education, conservation, and the rehabilitation of native plants and wildlife in Georgia, has announced the return of family-friendly Halloween Hikes from October 24th through 26th, 2025.

NewTown Macon's Tour of Progress is an annual event that allows the curious to get a peek behind the curtain (so to speak) at the newest projects and developments in Downtown Macon.

NewTown Macon's Emily Hopkins, who happens to be the mastermind behind many of the annual events that bring so many visitors to Downtown Macon, will be one of the tour guides during this year's Tour of Progress.

This free, family-friendly event will start from the Otis Redding Center for the Arts. Registration is requested, but those who show up at 5 p.m. will be placed on a tour if spots are still available.

The Farmstand at Mystic Grove Farm is now open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Shoppers can buy "Farm Fresh Eggs (brown, blue & green), Fresh Cut Flowers, Baked Goods, Pressed Flower crafts, and more," according to Mystic Grove Farm.

Mystic Grove Farm is located at 5835 McKinley Drive in Macon.

Open Fri, Sat, & Sunday 9am-7pm

Tonight, Wednesday, October 8th, this article from space.com claims that the best time to watch the Draconid meteor shower is at sunset, before the moon rises and makes them more difficult to see.

The Draconid meteor shower peaks on Oct. 8, as a waning gibbous moon graces the night sky.

The National Weather Service (Peachtree City) is predicting a gradual warming trend through the weekend, with high temperatures next week likely returning to the 80s.

Until then, we should be able to enjoy a high temperature that only reaches the 70s tomorrow.
