The events of 9/11, when almost 3,000 people lost their lives and the lives of Americans were forever changed, should never be forgotten.

It should remind us of the brevity of life, the quickness with which it can be extinguished in a moment of senseless violence, and why we should seek to have lives full of integrity, courage, and love.

There are more things that make us similar than divide us: we all want our children to have good lives full of hope and positive events. We all want to live in a world where justice is the norm instead of the exception. We all want to live meaningful lives full of beauty.

Thank you to all those who sacrificed themselves to keep others safe on that tragic day, and for all those who still hold on to hope even when the darkness that can live in the hearts of man seems so strong.
