The CEO of Instagram himself admitted that Reels are "still quite far behind."

So what can we expect next year if these past 2 years have just been the beginning?

Here are some predictions:
✨ Advancements in the Reels algorithm
We already know the algorithm doesn't favor low-quality and recycled content but we can imagine this will get more defined to compete with TikTok.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Reels shopping will get an upgrade!
We're thinking like tagged products in posts- but in Reels and maybe with a twist?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Reels will become even MORE prominent in the app
Some home feeds have already turned primarily covered in Reels as we've reached the end of 2021. Expect more changes like this showcasing Reels above photo in 2022!

✨ Reels aesthetics will also become more prominent
Reels are definitely less chaotic than TikTok. We expect to continue to see Reels get interpreted in classic Instagram fashion- aesthetically pleasing and captivating!

✨ Reels will have a separate identity to the clock app😉
The two apps already have their own twist to short-form video content. We're expecting to see Reels try to upgrade more features to continue to create their own identity.

✨ New & (hopefully) improved editing features
Reels glitches will be the death of me. We're REALLY hoping for bug fixes to the frustrating glitches that come with creating & editing in Reels as it matures through 2022.

Reels has already been testing the "Instagram Reels Play" bonus program for creators in this last quarter of 2021 but it hasn't been released to all creators yet. We expect to see this expand more throughout the new year.

I'm spending the holidays with my family back home in Chicagoland and then hanging out a little longer to spend time with my new little nephew (he's being stubborn though and not letting his mom go into labor).

Usually I only come home for Christmas & leave by New Years. This year, I'll be home for about 5 weeks and I have amazing clients & community to thank for that freedom!

Let's be honest, as an entrepreneur we all feel guilty if we're not working like crazy and using every minute of daylight!

Here's how to set boundaries during the holidays:
💫 Get all of your content scheduled out NOW and have everything on auto-post so you don't have to post something while you're unwrapping presents!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💫 Set up a "do not disturb"/"vacay mode" automatic email. Boundaries are KEY! Let your clients know that you'll get back to them as soon as you can with an automatic email response.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💫 AND/OR - Send out a mass email to your clients before the holidays start stating your hours and response times. In this email be sure to state that they have the next few days to get in contact with anything urgent before you unplug for the holidays!

💫 Just know that the sun will still rise, social media will not go away, and your clients will be FINE. Take a couple days for you & your loved ones! Everyone will understand!

ONE YEAR OF RADIATE SOCIAL 🥂

This year hasn't been easy, believe me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I started Radiate Social after I got furloughed from my old job.
After working with a boss who belittled and devalued me.
After moving back in with my Mom while recovering from breaking up with my ex-boyfriend.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It felt like my world was crashing down around me, nothing was going "right".
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can't tell you how many times I wanted to give up.
How many times I cried.
How many times I thought to myself "wtf do you even think you're doing running a business!?"

BUT HERE WE ARE!

The lockdown in 2020 changed the world of consumerism as we knew it and those changes aren't going away in 2022.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because of this, online shopping rates hit an all time high. Like literally online shopping had the growth of a 10 year span, in 3 MONTHS. 🤯
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The pandemic is not only impacting this but also Gen Z & Millennials!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Studies from 2021 showed us that the younger generation turns toward social networks to conduct brand research more than search engines.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If that doesn't illustrate how important your social media presence is as a brand, I don't know what else will!

Are you letting areas of your business go on the back burner?

I noticed that as my clientele increases, my focus on Radiate Social itself decreases.

I'm less focused on planning out my own social posts, showing up on stories, etc.

Basically I slack on everything I preach to my clients! 😂

My clients take priority in my business because without them, I don't have a business (love u guys, so thankful)!

So that being said, I know that when I get to a certain point I'm going to have to hire and start outsourcing help! Because if I don't ask for help, how am I supposed to grow and sustain?

What are the most important aspects to your social media?

⚡️ Have a strategy. Posting w***y nilly won't get you the results and community you're looking for! Always have a plan when it comes to your content and approach.
⚡️ Consistency in branding. Inconsistent branding both visually and through messaging gets messy and will leave your consumers confused. Be sure to have these aspects all aligned to ensure a smooth customer journey!
⚡️ Content is queen! I'm talking photo AND video here. Invest in yourself and your business, schedule a studio session with a photographer, and get some beautiful content to represent your brand!

Every business owner is guilty of letting their boundaries blur a little bit!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What are some ways you establish your boundaries to your clients and maybe just to those around you in general?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here's some of the ways I establish healthy boundaries with my business:
⚡️ I have a disclaimer in my email signature that expresses my business hours and estimated response time to communicate what my clients can expect in terms of my timeliness.
⚡️ I *try my best* to always stop with work around 5/6pm each day! I'm pretty good at keeping myself accountable with this one, but sometimes there's pressing matters!
⚡️ I don't answer emails on the weekends. Weekends are my ME time and this boundary is expressed in my email signature!
⚡️ Instagram push notifications are turned off on my phone. This keeps me more connected in my day-to-day and less focused on what's happening on IG!

I helped my client form her dream community and here's how I did it!

First things first, we narrowed down the values and mission of her brand.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I asked her questions like:
❤️‍🔥 How do you want your customers to feel when they come to your Instagram page?
❤️‍🔥 What type of value are they going to receive by following you?
❤️‍🔥 If your brand was a person, what do they sound like?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These questions helped guide us into crafting her brand voice which I then integrated into the content!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Posting on social media is SO much more than just throwing up a photo or graphic.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's about forming a genuine connection with your audience and establishing yourself as the professional in your field!

Once you nail that, the community grows!

HASHTAG UPDATE! ⚡️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instagram's account just released new tips for using hashtags on the platform.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
According to their post, we should be using 3-5 hashtags per post!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is a huge jump from a few months ago when we were used to taking advantage of all 30 spots for hashtag usage!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In addition to only using 3-5 hashtags per post, they suggest to continue to use relevant hashtags that your audience follows and are familiar with and to stay away from going beyond 10 hashtags per post.

Also within these 3-5, be sure to mix them up with a combo of large and small-niche hashtags to expand your chance to be discovered!
