I was told that THE BUILDOUT is an experience before ever walking into the theater, but that description alone doesn’t do it justice. A meticulous unraveling of two beautiful characters, the desert serves as an almost alien landscape that becomes the catalyst for the many inevitable questions that arise as they move deeper into the unknown. Luckily, there’s plenty of room for contemplation in the absolutely gorgeous photography this movie pours over. It’s an undoubtedly original and personal vision, shot completely in the elements with a true maverick spirit. It looms over you long after the credits roll, similar to how the filmmakers towered over the host in their photo.
