Noughts and Crosses by was featured in our episode last week, in the episode we discussed the plot of the first book in the series, which sets out the premise of a world where people are divided by whether they are a naught or a cross.

The main characters used to play together as children but now they must meet in secret, that is, until one of them is caught in a terrorist attack, which the other's father is implicated in. The blood hunt that ensues threatens their love for one another and their lives.

Described as a dark, dystopian, thriller, where racial prejudice is inverted and told through multiple POV's, this a great series to get your teeth into!

Over July and August our buddy read book was My Boss is the Devil by Ben Schenkman - Author ! The rules for our buddy reads are simple, we try to pick an indie author whose book is available on Kindle Unlimited and we have two months to read it.

This episode does contain spoilers! In it we talk about the themes, plots and characters in the book and what we did and didn't like.

You can join our next buddy read on Storygraph here https://tinyurl.com/2s4vrs7s, which will be Pumpkin, Spice and Poltergeist by Ali K Mulford and K.Elle. Morrison.

We haven't come up with a succinct way to summarise this trope, it's basically 'character is injured/ sick and other character takes care of them trope' - this is distinctly different from the 'who hurt you trope', it is very specifically about books where a character is cared for by another, usually the love interest.

Disappointingly for us, but good news for you, this actually turned out to be a really good list! We definitely added a bunch of stuff to our TBR's
