On World Peace Day, attention must also remain on unresolved conflicts that continue to affect regional stability. The Jammu and Kashmir dispute has remained unresolved for nearly eight decades, with UN Security Council resolutions forming part of its international history.
A peaceful political resolution requires dialogue, respect for human rights and consideration of the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

On the International Day of Peace, the unresolved Kashmir dispute remains a serious challenge to lasting peace in South Asia. The Kashmir question has remained on the UN agenda for decades, while UN Security Council resolutions have addressed the issue and the principle of self-determination.
