Day 10: I’m back! I had to take some time off and found some bigger eyes!

Let me know what you think:
Do you like the red or orange eyelid better?
Should I use 50 or 58mm eyes?

Day 9: Wings & Tail

This is the last round for the dragon’s body!

This thing is massive and HOT 😅 It had me wondering if my ac was working lol

The body now measures 47” from wing-to-wing. It’s shown here on my Queen-sized bed. I haven’t measure with the tail straight just yet. I can’t wait to see wha the final measurements are!

I did need to alter the wing tips and tail tip from my Snuggle Dragon pattern. I also added 6 chains to make the tail longer (which I absolutely love).

I was fortunate enough to find another skein of red at Michael’s that was the same dye lot!! I’m super excited about this. I really didn’t want to use orange for this round.

Overall, the body took 2 skeins of orange and 3 skeins of red so 5 total if we were to make a solid-colored dragon.

Next is finishing the head then adding spikes! Oh and securing all those ends 🫠 😅

Day 7: More work on the head

I still needed to add three more rounds before I would normally add the eyes; I’m using my Snuggle Dragon head.

However, I’m still not sure about these eyes 😅 So I added a couple more rounds then checked again.. and I’m STILL unsure 🤪

What do you think? I think they **might** work.. but I don’t know if they will actually be secure.

I’m probably going to end up stuffing it then checking AGAIN 🤣 You’re getting some real-time insight into my design mind and decision paralysis 😅 but I have other things to work on in the mean time.

Hiding this thing is getting more difficult.. Which also means I have less time so spend on it each day. The body is rolled up and tucked behind my pillows while the head lives in the tote with the yarn (for now)..

Follow for more progress! I promise I’ll get it done eventually 🤣

Day 5: It’s officially lap blanket sized!
Now that it’s so large it’s getting a bit more difficult to maneuver lol

Since I’m doing a solid granny square I had to pause to figure out where the head would attach. I decided to move it to the last corner. I’ll probably make up some no-sew method, but I’ve also been considering making it removable for easier cleaning… and maybe it could be a bag?!

If you have any ideas how that might work, let me know! I’ve considered buttons, a zipper, or mayyyyybe velrco (though I don’t really like that idea).

This round finished off the first skein of red and an entire new skein of red. So, we’re up to 2 skeins of red and 1.5 skeins of orange.

I only have two skeins of red left and no idea how much the head will take up. I do want the head to be red so I’m thinking I’ll pause the body here, make the head, then finish the body in orange if I need to.

This round measures about 30” - large enough to cover my legs when they’re out straight!
