Last night, he asked if he could type something himself.

I thought it was just a small moment.

But watching him sound out words and confidently type his thoughts reminded me that learning happens little by little,
day by day. 💛

Sometimes the progress we notice most isn’t during a lesson.

It’s in moments like these.

A little peek into our homeschool morning here in Calgary ☀️

We started with our little morning circle —
saying hello in both languages, singing a Thai song together and sharing what we’re excited about.

One thing I love about homeschooling:
We don’t rush into lessons.
We begin by connecting.
Then we follow our curiosity.

This week we'll be exploring about :
whole foods 🥦 🆚 processed foods 🌭

We’ll read books, check food labels,
cook together, and ask questions.

Not because they’re too young
to learn about food.
But because they’re old enough
to wonder where it comes from.

Slow homeschooling isn’t about doing more.

It’s about making space for meaningful
conversations + everyday learning.

And sometimes, it starts with a song, a smile, and a sunny Monday morning. ☀️

☀️ บรรยากาศโฮมสคูลยามเช้าของเราที่คัลการี่

เราเริ่มต้นวันด้วยกิจกรรมเล็ก ๆ เช่น ทักทายกันทั้งสองภาษา ร้องเพลงไทยด้วยกัน และคุยกันถึงสิ่งที่อยากทำในวันนี้

สิ่งหนึ่งที่เราชอบเกี่ยวกับการทำโฮมสคูลคือ
เราไม่ต้องรีบเร่งเข้าสู่บทเรียน 📕📖

เราเริ่มจากการใช้เวลาร่วมกัน แล้วค่อย ๆ เรียนรู้ไปตามความสนใจของเด็ก ๆ💙🖍️

หัวข้อของสัปดาห์นี้คือ

🥦 อาหารธรรมชาติ (Whole Foods)
🍪 และอาหารแปรรูป (Processed Foods)

เราจะเรียนรู้ผ่านการอ่านหนังสือ สำรวจอาหารในบ้าน
ไปซูเปอร์มาร์เก็ตด้วยกัน ดูฉลากอาหาร ช่วยกันทำอาหาร และตั้งคำถามกับสิ่งที่พบเจอระหว่างทาง 🧐

สำหรับเรา Slow Homeschooling ไม่ใช่การอัดความรู้ หรือคาดหวังให้ลูกเรียนได้ตามแผนทุกอย่างแบบเป๊ะ ๆ

แต่คือการเปิดพื้นที่ให้เกิดบทสนทนา ความสงสัย
และการค้นพบด้วยตัวเอง 😎

เพราะการเรียนรู้สามารถเกิดขึ้นได้ในชีวิตประจำวัน
และบางครั้ง มันก็เริ่มต้นจากเสียงเพลง รอยยิ้ม เสียงหัวเราะ และเช้าวันจันทร์ที่สดใส ☀️

The one place I thought I could be alone… 🚽😂

I was just trying to use the bathroom.

A few seconds later,
my toddler appeared with Play-Doh in hand.

And just like that, my two minutes of privacy were gone. 😅

Mom life. 💛

Tell me I’m not the only one with a bathroom buddy.

One thing I love about our homeschooling journey is learning to notice the little things.

Today, the lesson wasn’t in a book.

Why we choose slow homeschooling 💛

Slow homeschooling isn’t about doing less.
It’s about making room for the things that matter most.

For us, that means making room for two worlds to grow together. 🐘🦫

As a Thai mom raising children in Calgary, I want them to know both—the language, stories, and traditions I grew up with, and the Canadian home they’re growing up in.🇹🇭🇨🇦

Some days that looks like singing Thai songs before breakfast. Other days it’s reading Thai stories on the couch, helping in the kitchen, or heading outside to see what spring is waking up to.🌿🌈

The learning isn’t always planned.
But it’s always happening.

Slow homeschooling reminds me that childhood isn’t a race to the next milestone.

There is time.

Time to wonder.

Time to connect.

Time to grow into a full identity—Thai roots and a Canadian home.🍁

This path isn’t perfect.

But it feels right for our family. 🌱

ทำไมเราเลือกสโลว์โฮมสคูล 💛

สำหรับบ้านเรา สโลว์โฮมสคูลคือการเรียนรู้แบบค่อยเป็นค่อยไป ให้เวลาและเปิดพื้นที่ให้กับสิ่งที่สำคัญ และสนับสนุนสิ่งที่ลูกสนใจจริงๆ

ในฐานะแม่คนไทยที่เลี้ยงลูกในแคนาดา เราอยากให้สองหนุ่มได้เติบโตและเรียนรู้ทั้งสองวัฒนธรรมไปพร้อมๆกัน🇹🇭🇨🇦

บทเรียนของเราเลยแทรกอยู่ในทุกวัน ...

บางวันก็ร้องเพลงภาษาไทย ทำควิซถามไทย-ตอบอังกฤษ
นั่งอ่านนิทานไทยบนโซฟา ไม่งั้นก็พากันออกไปดูธรรมชาติรอบตัว หากวันไหนฝนตกก็นั่งวาดรูป ระบายสีกันในบ้าน🖍️

การเรียนรู้ของบ้านเราจึงไม่ได้มีตารางแบบเป๊ะๆ
เพราะเราเชื่อว่าการเรียนรู้ไม่จำเป็นต้องรีบเร่ง

เด็ก ๆ ควรมีเวลาที่จะสงสัยและค้นหา เวลาที่จะเชื่อมโยงความผูกพัน และเวลาที่จะเติบโตในแบบที่เป็นตัวเอง

เส้นทางนี้อาจไม่สมบูรณ์แบบ...
แต่เป็นเส้นทางที่ลงตัวที่สุดสำหรับเรา 🌱

ภาษาไทยด้านล่างนะคะ 😉

Some days, I miss Thailand more than I can put into words.

The food.
The language.
The familiar feeling of home.

Then I watch my children move effortlessly between Thai and English, carrying pieces of both worlds with them❤️

A little bit of Thailand.
A little bit of Canada.

From elephants to beavers 🐘🦫

Different roots, growing in the same heart.

And somehow, that makes home feel a little bigger💛

To every parent raising children between cultures:
the work may feel invisible some days,
but the roots are growing.

Slow learning. Strong roots 🌱

บางวันเราเองก็คิดถึงเมืองไทย

คิดถึงครอบครัว
คิดถึงอาหาร
คิดถึงเพื่อนคนไทย
คิดถึงบรรยากาศแบบไทย ๆ

บางทีมันก็เป็นความรู้สึกที่ยากจะอธิบายออกมาเป็นคำพูด

แต่พอเห็นหนุ่ม ๆ พยายามพูดภาษาไทยกับแม่ แล้วอีกไม่กี่นาทีก็กลับไปพูดภาษาอังกฤษเหมือนเดิม 😂😅

มันทำให้เราเข้าใจว่า สองวัฒนธรรมที่แตกต่างกันจะเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของชีวิตลูก ๆ เสมอ

มีความเป็นไทยอยู่หน่อย

มีความเป็นแคนาดาอยู่หน่อย

จากช้าง…สู่บีเวอร์🐘🦫

และมันทำให้รู้ว่า คำว่า “บ้าน” ของเรานั้น
กว้างขึ้นกว่าเดิมเยอะเลย 💛

เป็นกำลังใจให้ทุกครอบครัวที่กำลังเลี้ยงลูกท่ามกลางสองวัฒนธรรมนะคะ 🇹🇭🇨🇦

แม้บางวันจะเหนื่อยจนรู้สึกเหมือนไม่มีใครเห็น
แต่รากเหง้าเหล่านั้นกำลังเติบโตอย่างเงียบ ๆ
และงดงามอยู่ในตัวลูกเสมอ 🌱

When the weather allows, we take homeschool outside 🌿

Today, spring left us little clues—muddy footprints along the path, a broken twig, and the first green shoots pushing through the soil.

One simple “What’s that?” turned into a conversation about who shares this land with us, and eventually led to stories from Thailand.

Two places.
One big world.
One curious heart.

One of my favourite things about homeschooling is how learning often begins with simply stepping outside.

Nature really is the best classroom. 💛

ถ้าอากาศเป็นใจ เรามักจะพาเด็กๆออกไปเรียนรู้ข้างนอก🌿

วันนี้ธรรมชาติทิ้งร่องรอยไว้ให้เราค้นหา—ทั้งรอยเท้าเปื้อนโคลนบนทางเดิน กิ่งไม้หัก และยอดอ่อนที่เพิ่งผลิจากดิน

คำถามง่าย ๆ แค่ "นั่นอะไรนะ?" ชวนให้เราคุยกันถึงสิ่งมีชีวิตรอบตัว จนเชื่อมโยงไปถึงเรื่องเล่าจากเมืองไทย

สองสถานที่
หนึ่งโลกกว้าง
และหนึ่งความอยากรู้อยากเห็น

สิ่งที่ชอบที่สุดในโฮมสคูล คือการเรียนรู้ที่เริ่มต้นได้ง่าย ๆ
แค่ก้าวขาออกนอกบ้าน... 🌈🦋🌻🌴

ธรรมชาติคือห้องเรียนที่ดีที่สุดจริง ๆ 💛

Monday mornings look like this in our home🇹🇭🇨🇦

Thai greetings while making breakfast, then switching to English story time. We work on a little math, make a craft or two, and often end the day at the playground. Nothing fancy—just learning woven into everyday life.

Slow homeschooling means we don’t rush.
We connect, we learn, and we move through our day together.

It’s not always picture-perfect—sometimes the porridge burns, and story time gets interrupted five times 😅 But there’s beauty in that too.

This rhythm helps keep us grounded🌱

เช้าวันจันทร์ในบ้านโฮมสคูลไทย-แคนาดาของเรา 🇹🇭🇨🇦

เราเริ่มต้นด้วยการทักทายกันเป็นภาษาไทย
ช่วยกันทำอาหารเช้าด้วยกัน แล้วเปลี่ยนไปอ่านนิทานภาษาอังกฤษ เรียนเลขนิดหน่อย ทำคราฟท์สักชิ้นสองชิ้น
และจบวันที่สนามเด็กเล่น

ไม่มีอะไรหวือหวา มีแค่การเรียนรู้ที่สอดแทรกอยู่ในชีวิตประจำวันธรรมดาๆ

เรียนรู้ทีละน้อยไม่เร่งรีบ
และใช้เวลาเชื่อมโยงกันในครอบครัว

สำหรับเรา การเรียนรู้ไม่ได้เกิดขึ้นแค่ตอนนั่งเรียน
แต่เกิดขึ้นในช่วงเวลาธรรมดา ๆ ของทุกวันด้วยเช่นกัน 💛
