GOVERNMENT TO GIVE LATE PRESIDENT LUNGU DIGNIFIED SENDOFF WITH MILITARY HONORS

The Zambian government has announced that former President Edgar Lungu will be given a dignified sendoff with military honors and a cortège. According to Foreign Affairs Minister Mulambo Haimbe, President Hakainde Hichilema was saddened by Lungu's death and has directed that the funeral arrangements be conducted with utmost respect.

The military honors will include a presidential gun salute, guard of honor, and flypast. Minister Haimbe urged Zambians to focus on mourning Lungu in a respectful manner, setting aside political differences to give the late president a befitting sendoff.

The government aims to provide a funeral similar to that of late President Kenneth Kaunda, which was widely appreciated by Zambians. "We will give our late President a dignified send off like late President KK's, with military honors and cortège," Haimbe said.

The Secretary to the Cabinet will provide updates on the funeral arrangements, which will be shared with the nation in due course

UGANDA AIR FORCE NOW TO DELIVER LIFE-SAVING ARVS USING DRONES WHILE ZAF FOCUSES ON BAKING

While Zambia Air Force focuses on making bread, Uganda's initiative to deliver ARVs using drones is gaining momentum. A groundbreaking project aims to utilize drones for transporting Antiretroviral Therapy (ARV) medications, improving healthcare accessibility in remote areas.

The plan involves drones equipped with navigation systems, transporting ARVs to designated landing points, where Local Village Health Teams (VHTs) will offload the medications. This innovative approach could bridge the gap in healthcare delivery, especially in hard-to-reach communities.

With over 500 successful flights covering approximately 4,500 kilometers, trials have shown promising results. The data collected will be used to make a compelling case to governments and stakeholders about the effectiveness of drone delivery for medical supplies.

If successful, this initiative could revolutionize healthcare delivery in Uganda, enhancing access to essential medications and improving treatment outcomes for patients in need.

SON THINKS SHE'S JUST SLEEPING: BRAIN DEAD MOM KEPT ON LIFE SUPPORT FOR UNBORN BABY

Adriana Smith, a 30-year-old nurse and mother from Atlanta, Georgia, has been on life support for over 90 days after being declared brain dead. She was 9 weeks pregnant at the time and, due to Georgia's restrictive abortion law, her doctors are keeping her body on life support to sustain the fetus until delivery.

The decision has sparked controversy, with Smith's family arguing that they should have the right to make medical decisions for her. Her family, including her young son, are struggling with the emotional and financial burden of her prolonged hospitalization. Her son still thinks she's just sleeping, unaware of the complex situation surrounding his mother's condition.

The Georgia law in question bans most abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected, usually around the sixth week of pregnancy. While removing life support from a pregnant woman isn't considered a direct abortion, the law's language has led to confusion and debate.

Smith's family and advocates argue that her body should be treated with dignity and respect, and that she should have had the right to make choices about her own medical care.

The family is fighting for the right to make medical decisions for Adriana, while the hospital is seeking to save the life of the unborn baby.
