Hit up burr oak this morning and got off to a fast start catching 3 fish within the first hour powershotting grass edges and they were absolutely choking it. Those fish were all d***s so I went looking for a bigger bite. Started to target main lake points in deeper water with the higher water temps and caught another d**k. So I decided to pick up the big stick and go up shallow punching isolated lily pad clumps and managed to find a bigger bite.
Powershot setup:
Rod: x Mach 2 7’ MH Fast Action
Reel: Reactor 7.5:1 Gear Ratio
Line: InvizX 17 Pound Fluorocarbon
Lure: 4” Eko Shad in the gizzard shad color rigged on a powershot with a .usa 3/0 Flipping Hook paired with a 3/8 oz. Dropshot weight.

Such a fun day on the water catching fish on my 3 favorite lures: a bladed jig, jig, and a buzzbait. The bass weren’t biting great but I still managed to find a few decent ones and got several bonus crappie bites. The crappie were huge and aggressive with nearly taking the rod out of my hand once.

Had a plan going into the morning to go up shallow and swing the big sticks since the water was up at Seneca and managed to find a few decent ones. I was really hoping to get on a frog/flipping bite but it just didn’t happen. Instead I still got to catch fish on some of my favorite lures!

Got to the lake later this afternoon and put in for about 2 hours to check water conditions and a particular area of the lake to see if bass were still guarding fry. Got an answer to all of my questions rather quickly and managed to put a couple of fish in the boat.

Picture 4 was a summary of my day at Alum. Short strike after short strike. Did manage to land a few d***s on a Dropshot and the only good bite I had all day was good enough to snap my Dropshot hook in half 🙃 pretty sure I tossed every lure in the boat and the only thing I could sniff a bite with was the Dropshot.
