At the Dubai Metaverse Assembly last week, the chief operating officer of Emirates, the biggest airline in the UAE, said that the airline would be hiring 4,000 cabin crew to train in the Metaverse.

Although your average person still isn’t totally sure what the Metaverse is, how it works, or what it can be used for, it doesn’t mean others aren’t already using it. Organizations, businesses, and even governments are looking into this new technology and how it can be used to improve efficiency and communication.

For the United Arab Emirates, the Metaverse presents an opportunity to train its workers more efficiently and realistically.

Training 4,000 Cabin Crew Members in the Metaverse

At the Dubai Metaverse Assembly held last week, Emirates Airlines announced its plans to train new hires in the Metaverse. At the moment, the biggest airline in the country has 16,000 cabin crew members. By the end of the year, it plans on expanding to 20,000.

And those 4,000 crew members will undergo experimental training in VR. Using the Metaverse and VR goggles, the crew members will be able to walk through a simulated aircraft. This will help them learn everything from handling the galley to safety procedures.
Adel Ahmed Al Redha, Emirates’ COO, said that VR is being used to simulate walking into an aircraft. The goal is to analyze every detail so that the airline can improve its service.

Sales of non-fungible tokens dropped sharply in the third quarter, according to blockchain tracker DappRadar, as crypto investors hunker down for a "crypto winter" and demand for the highly speculative digital assets shows little sign of returning.

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are a kind of blockchain-based asset representing a digital file such as an image, video or item in an online game. They exploded in popularity in 2021, as crypto-rich speculators rushed to cash in on rising prices, but sales volumes have slumped in recent months.

The third quarter of 2022 saw $3.4 billion in NFT sales, down from $8.4 billion the previous quarter and $12.5 billion at the market's peak in the first quarter of the year, DappRadar said.

Sega, one of the largest Japanese gaming companies, has announced that it will launch its first blockchain game in collaboration with Double Jump Tokyo, another Japanese development company. The game, which is based on Sega’s Sangokushi Taisen franchise, will be built using Oasys, a Japanese scaling-focused project, to support its blockchain elements.

On Sept. 29, global music and entertainment company Warner Music Group (WMG) announced a partnership with nonfungible token (NFT) marketplace OpenSea to provide a platform for select musical artists to build and extend their fanbase into the Web3 community.

According to the release, the collaboration between these two entities will allow select WMG artists to get early access to OpenSea’s newly rolled-out feature, which enables artists to launch their NFT collections and limited-edition projects on their own customizable and dedicated drop pages.

These WMG artists will have access to personalized storytelling on customized landing pages, as well as to OpenSea’s industry-leading safety and security features. The partnership, aimed at helping WMG artists build new Web3 communities, intends to introduce existing fan communities on OpenSea to new forms of connection and creativity through NFTs — and open up new opportunities for fans to engage with music and artists within the Web3 community.

Meta announced today that all Facebook and Instagram users in the U.S. can now connect their wallets and share their NFTs. All users in the U.S. also have the ability to cross-post the NFTs that they own across both Facebook and Instagram. The official roll out comes a few months after Meta first began testing NFTs with select users on Instagram in May, and on Facebook in June.

The company also launched NFT support on Instagram in 100 countries in August with select users. Today, Meta announced that all users in these 100 countries can now access the feature on Instagram.
