The Yankees salvage the series in Texas.

The most important part about this game was that you clinched the tie-breaker against the Rangers. It seems the division is out of reach for the Yankees, so the tie-breakers will be crucial against other wild card teams.

Rodon had a solid start, only allowing 2 runs over 5 innings, but nothing to write home about. He needs to start giving the Yankees length again, or else the pen will be put under even more pressure.

With the game being tied in the 7th inning, Paul Goldschmidt came off the bench and OBLITERATED a baseball to give the Yankees the lead!

David Bednar then closed it out for the Yankees.

Don't let the one run hide the fact that the Mets almost got no-hit after not getting a hit in 14 straight innings, dating back to last night. David Peterson didn't have his best stuff, getting snake-bitten by the home run ball, but still went 6 full innings. Something no other Met starting pitcher can say, dating back to June.

This offense, with all the talent in the world, looked completely overmatched and unprepared. Losing the first two games by a single run and then nearly getting no-hit is an embarrassment. The Mets have now lost 8 of their last 9, falling 2.5 game behind the Phillies in the NL East.

If the Yankees get swept today, they are out of a wild-card spot.

Yes, it has gotten that bad. There isn't much to say that hasn't already been said. When the bats hit, the starters get killed. When the starters shove, the pen gets crushed. When they pitch well the bats go silent.

Just win and try and turn your season around, because it is getting late early in New York...

The Mets will attempt to salvage the series this afternoon against the Guardians. David Peterson takes the mound, looking to continue his strong season.

Carlos Mendoza switches up the lineup in an awfully familiar fashion from the start of the season. Cedric Mullins is in CF, with Luis Torrens behind the dish. Brett Baty gets the start over Ronny Mauricio at 3B.

What a joke of a game.

The Yankees offense mustered up one hit through 8 innings, and if it weren't for incredible pitching up until this point, the game wouldn't have been tied.

It was tied, that is until Devin Williams came in and gave up two runs. He has been horrific, and while you can't blame him for this game, they are going to have to make a decision on him, and quick.

If the Yankees lose their sixth game in a row tomorrow, they will officially be out a playoff spot.

The Mets drop the game and the series, falling to 1-7 in their last 8 games. Clay Holmes pitched well in his 5 innings of work, allowing just 2 runs. The story of the game, and the season, is the offense. The Mets scored 2 runs in the first two innings and then had 2 baserunners after the 3rd inning. The last 14 Mets were retired.

The wait is over, Aaron Judge is back!

With what felt like the longest 10 games ever in the past, Aaron Judge was activated off of the IL. He will only DH for about two weeks (most likely more) until his forearm is fully healed. It will be interesting what happens to Stanton, as his bat is crucial to this lineup.

The Mets get set to bounce back from their brutal loss last night against the Guardians. Clay Holmes gets the start, looking to at least keep the team within striking distance. Holmes hasn’t completed more than 5 innings since June.

Brutal.

The Yankees have lost their fourth game in a row.

Max Fried gutted through 5 innings, giving up 4 runs. He hasn't been sharp over the last month, and if the Yankees want to turn it around, he will be a big part of it.

The Yankees were in a good spot, up until the 9th inning when Joc Pederson hit a game-tying pinch-hit home run off of Devin Williams. Pederson has been one of the worst hitters in baseball this year, it is inexcusable to give him a pitch to hit there.

Of course the Yankees offense does nothing in extras, so Josh Jung hits a walk-off home run in the bottom half.

What could've been one of the best wins of the season turns into another heart-wrenching loss as the Mets lose 7-5 in extras. Sean Manaea cruised through 5 innings but imploded for 5 runs in the 6th. They would rally back, in thanks to a 3-run Alonso homer, to tie things up at 5.

The Mets had bases loaded and no outs in the 8th inning and scored just the one run to tie it. They then had the winning run in Tyrone Taylor, arguably, stopped at 3rd with 1 out after Lindor doubled. Taylor wouldn't score. Brett Baty then made a crucial error in the 10th, throwing away a bunt attempt allowing a run to score, the runners to move up and another run to come around on a sac fly.

This team is its own worst enemy. No one is taking initiative, and no one knows how to be aggressive. The vibes are bad.

The Yankees start a HUGE series in Texas!

This is the first look at the Yankees HEAVY righty lineup. It is yet to be seen how productive it will be, but on the surface it looks like it will leave room to be desired.

This series is important for more reasons than just wins and loss. The Yankees need to get going, or else all of the moves they made at the deadline will be for nothing.

The Mets look to turn in a good stretch of baseball, welcoming the Cleveland Guardians to Citi Field. Sean Manaea last pitched against the Padres, allowing a run on 3 hits through 5 innings. He has now pitched 5 innings in back to back starts and the Mets could use some length from tonight.

Pete Alonso gets a half-day, DH'ing and allowing Mark Vientos to get a start at 1B.
