The Yankees drop the series finale to the Cubs.

Pathetic performance from the offense, with them only having 28 plate appearances. If you throw a perfect game you only face 27...

That concludes the first half of the season, not a horrible start, but they are rotation depth has been challenged, and at times has cost this teams games. That being said, this is not a complete team. This team can not go into the playoffs as currently constructed and expect to make it back to the World Series.

The Mets finish up their first half, eyeing a sweep of the Kansas City Royals! Clay Holmes gets the start, coming off a good-until-it-wasn't start. In 5 innings, Holmes allowed 5 runs on 7 hits, but everything came crashing down in the 6th. Sean Manaea was reinstated from the IL with the idea of piggybacking off Holmes sometime after Holmes.

With the LHP Noah Cameron taking the mound for the Royals, Jeff McNeil and Brett Baty get the day off. Tyrone Taylor and Luisangel Acuna take their place.

The Yankees look to head into the All-Star break with a series win against the Cubs!

Will Warren had a DISASTROUS start against the Blue Jays two starts ago, but bounced back very nicely against the Mariners. If the Yankees want to win this game, they need the Will Warren from the Mariners start.

The offense has a tough task, going up against S***a Imanaga who has a 2.80 ERA on the season. The lineup remains the same from yesterday except for Dominguez being subbed in for Grisham.

The Mets win the series in Kansas City in a well-pitched game, 3-1. Frankie Montas looked sharp through 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits. The bullpen would hold the Royals hitless, with just two baserunners on walks. With Clay Holmes and Sean Manaea supposed to pitch tomorrow, Carlos Mendoza turned to Edwin Diaz for a 6-out save, likely ending his first half of the year!

Offense was hard to come by, with the biggest hit being a Juan Soto 2-run homer in the 4th. Jeff McNeil would provide some insurance in the 9th with an RBI single.

The Yankees drop game two of the series

The big story from this game is Max Fried's blister. Fried was visibly grimacing throughout his start, and was taken out with a blister on his index finger. Hopefully the all star break will give him time to rest and recover.

The offense was lifeless except for a 9th inning where Judge hit his 350th career home run. By far the quickest to do it in MLB history.

The Yankees can bounce back and take the series tomorrow at 1:35

The Mets continue their series in KC, coming off a late-game comeback against the Royals. Frankie Montas gets the start, coming off a much better outing against the Yankees. Montas pitched 5.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits. Two runners came to score in the 6th inning, where he might have been left in a little too long. He also only struck out 2 batters, which will be something to monitor.

Juan Soto gets a day off his feet, DH'ing for the day, moving Jeff McNeil to RF. Mark Vientos gets another start at 3B after his heroic, go-ahead bases-clearing double last night. Hoping this starts a good stretch of baseball for Vientos, as the Mets desperately need another impactful bat in their lineup.

The Yankees look to secure the series against the Cubs!

Before anything else, let's all wish Austin Wells a happy birthday! He starts behind the dish today, and with the lefty on the mound Goldy and Stanton both get the start.

Fried gets the ball, and he is the exact guy you want on the bump with the chance to take a series from a great team in the Cubs.

The Yankees take game one from the Cubs by force as they shut them out while scoring 11 runs! Carlos Rodon was magnificent, going 8 scoreless innings while striking out 8 and allowing just 4 hits.

It was Cody Bellinger's night as he hit 3 homers with 6 RBI!

Kodai Senga is back as the Mets begin their last series of the first half in Kansas City! Senga made just one rehab start between his injury and now, but that was all he needed. Senga has been excellent this season and this team has desperetly missed him.

After leaving game one of yesterday's doubleheader, Jesse Winker is back on the IL with back inflammation. Mark Vientos gets the start at DH and has plenty of runway to earn a starting role back. Brett Baty gets the day off, moving Jeff McNeil back to 2B as Tyrone Taylor patrols CF.

The Yankees start a three-game set against the Cubs!

Rodon gets the ball and looks to bounce-back after a really bad start against the Mets. While he did get lit up, you can play devil's advocate and say it was just one bad inning, but you can't afford to have one of those against the Cubs.

Stanton, Grisham, and Wells all get the day off.

The Yankees come allllllll the way back to win it, and sweep the Mariners!

Holy cow, what a game. The Yankees were no hit through 7 innings, and had no business being in this game. But, a rally started by who else by Jazz Chisholm Jr. and a pinch-hit 3-run home run by Giancarlo Stanton brought the deficit to two. Then, against all-star reliever Andres Munoz, the Yankees scored two runs off of 3 hits and a walk.

Judge came up in the bottom of the 10th and walked it off with a sac fly.

The Yankees look to continue their hot play, facing one of the best teams in baseball tomorrow in the Chicago Cubs.

The Mets get swept in today's doubleheader, tonight in 7-3. The bullpen game went as expected, with Brandon Waddell giving up 3 runs in 3 innings and Justin Hagenman giving up 3 runs (2 ER) in 2 innings.

It was a rough day for the offense as they left another 6 men on base and went 1-8 with RISP. The Mets went 2 FOR 19 with RISP today.

The Mets are limping to the All-Star break.
