✨ ADMIN REVEAL ✨
👋 Hello Friends! I'm Heather, a contributor for Sad Sack. We here at Sad Sack are putting faces to the name, so here is a little info about who I am.
Who am I? I was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, raised in Miami, and currently live in Seattle with my husband Nick and our fur baby George. I’m a freelance writer by day and working on my first novel by night. In my spare time I like to be out in nature, going on hikes or kayaking on a lake. I also enjoy building legos with the hubby, weekend trips, and knitting and watercoloring with the besties. I am bibliophile through and through, books are my passion, so is social justice. I will always use my voice for the voiceless and stand up for the oppressed.
Why did I join Sad Sack? I believe in the aim of Sad Sack. Most companies that claim to champion causes give, at most, 10% of their profits. Meanwhile, they’re making millions capitalizing off of the oppression of others. Sad Sack was offering 100% of the proceeds of what they sold, massively setting them apart from other organizations. I was so impressed, I reached out to the creator of Sad Sack to offer encouragement and met my husband in the process. Watching him spend so much of his time and energy trying to make an impact is what had me jumping aboard. I wanted to help him reach his goals and alleviate his workload, so he could achieve balance and keep being passionate about his creative brainchild.

As 150 anti-trans bills are attempting to be passed across the country, states like Minnesota are taking a radical stand to ensure Trans youth will have access to gender-affirming care, no matter what. Misinformation about what exactly is included in gender-affirming care has been weaponized to pass these measures. Peep the slides to get some information to educate and celebrate 🖤
March 24, 2023 passed a bill with a narrow 68-62 House vote to prevent out-of-state laws from interfering with gender affirming health care in Minnesota, effectively making the state a ‘trans refuge.’
Gender-affirming care includes medical and social interventions like puberty blockers, hormone therapy, permanent hair removal, voice therapy, and surgical interventions.
The bill would prohibit any attempt to enforce a court ordered removal of a child from a parent or guardian for receiving medically necessary gender-affirming health care of any kind. It will also prevent the enforcement of another state’s laws being enacted in a pending child protection action.

✨ADMIN REVEAL✨
👋 Howdy folks! I'm Nick, the founder of Sad Sack. I realized I've never done one of these, so here's a little info about who runs this dang account ☺️
Who the heck is Nick? I was born and raised in the Midwest (Illinois but not Chicago) and currently live in Seattle with my wife Heather and fur-child George, a chonky red nose Pit Bull. I’m a UX designer by day and work on illustrations by night—or play Magic, read comic books, take hikes, play with Legos, battle with the weight of life, etc. I’m passionate about mental health and social justice (hence Sad Sack) and have an addiction for collecting records. I couldn’t live without music and used to run a music site called Playlistplay way back in the day.
Why did he start Sad Sack? I’ll be the first to admit I’m privileged. I’m a white, straight, cis male who comes from a middle class family and has a great job. You can’t get much more privileged than that. I’ve always tried to use this station in life to help others, though. I’ve volunteered for over a decade, I’ve attended protests and designed for social justice causes. I’ve always been an advocate for mental and emotional health. Sad Sack has been my outlet to start conversations around these areas and use my place of privilege to try and make a difference. Largely through goofy illustrations that aim to raise smiles and awareness. I don’t do this for money, I do it for fun and for impact. That’s why, since day one, all profit has been donated.
That's all for now, but I'll try to pop in here a bit more often to say hey to all y'all 🖤

I've mentioned this a few times before but I think it's worth highlighting in it's own post. This drop is intended to offer a bit more options across a broader range of prices. I know it's hard to fork out for a t-shirt every time we do a drop—plus you probably don't want that many shirts 😬. Instead, we're putting some more focus into smaller items, like stickers and patches (which you'll see more of soon 😏). These offer a cheaper price range; I try to keep them all under $12 with the stickers being the cheapest items in the shop.
I'm still doing shirts and offering different pricing options for them with a standard design and a deluxe design. I'm always trying to make sure there are plenty of options so we can make the most of our donations to organizations 🖤
Are there other items you'd like to see? Different price points you'd like offered? Hit me up, Sad Sack is always evolving!

When the dirt takes us, we all leave behind the same bones. The same structure holds all of us up, all our identities, our choices, our love, our pain. But in the end it's all the same, because we're all human, regardless of how we identify. Underneath, we all have the same bones. And the worms love us all equally 🪱🖤
☝️ This is what happens when you write a post early in the AM before your brain turns on
ANYWAYS, legend has it purchasing from our webstore OR our new Esty shop donates 100% of your profit to support trans lives via Trans Lifeline. Do some good and snag a shirt, sticker, or donate directly to TL via our fundraiser in our Instagram profile!
