Road to Game Jam sees over 5,400 registrations across 1,622 colleges, uniting game developers nationwide under WAVES Create in India Challenge

The Game Developer Association of India (GDAI), through its flagship event, the India Game Developer Conference (IGDC), has joined forces with KGeN to organize the “Road to Game Jam.” This initiative is one of the challenges under the Create in India Challenge Season 1, an activity under the Government of India’s World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES). It aims to empower India’s game developers to shape the future of the gaming industry by showcasing cutting-edge innovation and creativity.

The Road to Game Jam is offering game developers another opportunity to join this exciting initiative. With registrations open until February 1st 2025, aspiring developers can now showcase their talent and creativity in game design. The new submission deadline is February 16th 2025, with results set to be announced on March 16th 2025.

GDAI and KGeN are proud to announce the remarkable progress of the Road to Game Jam, an unprecedented initiative aimed at nurturing and expanding India’s vibrant game development community. By fostering local talent and providing a platform for regional representation, this program is paving the way for India’s brightest game development teams to shine at the WAVES India Summit.



Building Momentum: Achievements So Far
Since its launch, the Road to Game Jam has achieved incredible milestones:

5,496 game development enthusiasts registered for the program.
Representing 1,622 unique colleges across India.
Participants hail from 446 cities, spanning 28 states and 8 Union Territories.
120 teams from various colleges have already formed and are actively participating.

Workshops
The first workshop, conducted by Rahul Sehgal, founder of Gamer2Maker, focused on building a career in game development in India and addressed foundational aspects of the industry.
An AMA Session was held on January 18, 2024, featuring Nakul Verma, Founder of Playbae and Senior Engineer at Netflix. Nakul provided invaluable insights and addressed questions from the community offering practical guidance to inspire the participants
These sessions are designed to foster networking, provide mentorship, and equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in game development.

Bullet Echo India scales the Google Play Store charts; KRAFTON and ZeptoLab officially announce the launch of the game in India.

Having chartered the top place since it’s soft launch earlier this month, KRAFTON India, in collaboration with ZeptoLab, has recently announced the official launch of Bullet Echo India. This exciting top-down shooter mobile game is made especially for Indian gamers, offering an immersive experience with special features just for the Indian community.

Since its soft launch on April 4th, the game has quickly soared to the top spot in the 'Top Free,' 'Action,' and 'New' categories on the Google Play Store!

The game features four Indian-themed skins for heroes, Maharani Sparkle, Dancer Mirage and Raja Slayer which include elements of India’s rich culture and history. In a unique collaboration with BGMI, the hero Stalker receives a BGMI skin, blending in elements from India’s beloved battle royale title into the Bullet Echo universe.
With plans for continuous updates and events tied to Indian festivals, “Bullet Echo India” promises to keep players at the edge of their seats yet.

Who are the new characters in the Genshin Impact 2.0 update?

Ayaka
This five-star Cryo swordsmen is a daughter of the Kamisato Clan, one of the Tri-Commissions that oversees Inazuma's governance. Ayaka's banner, The Heron’s Court, releases on July 21 alongside version 2.0.

Yoimiya
A five-star Pyro archer and firework maker, Yoimiya is the owner of Naganohara Fireworks and is also Inazuma's most skilled Pyrotechnician. Yoimiya's banner, Tapestry of Golden Flames, arrives after Ayaka.

Sayu
Despite her small stature, this four-star Anemo ninja is a claymore user, and is often found napping in hidden places. Sayu is also set to feature as part of Yoimiya's banner.

Genshin Impact 2.0 Inazuma: What does the new area look like?
As the domain of the Electro Archon, Inazuma is a chain of six islands constantly battered by storms and lightning. As such, the land itself is infused with Electro, so we can expect plenty of new puzzles focused around the element. There isn't an official map yet, but the special program did reveal some prominent locations:

Grand Narukami Shrine: This mountaintop shrine protects a sacred sakura tree that resembles a fox. The tree symbolises the Electro Archon's protection of Inazuma.
Mikage Furnace: This floating forge lies in a crater and harnesses the power of Tatarigami to smelt ore.
Musoujin Gorge: An unnatural ravine created when the Raiden Sh**un sliced a giant serpent in two with a thunderous slash. The blow was so powerful it cut Yashiori Island in two. The serpent left behind Electro pulses known as Tartarigami that locals have harnessed as a power source.
Komore Teahouse: A tranquil and secretive teahouse owned by a Shiba Inu called Taroumaru. Legend says that its employees have signed a devil's bargain with the dog that means they must work forever.
Inazuma City: The capital of Inazuma. The city is home to the Raiden Sh**un's Tenshukaku.
Kamisato Clan Estate: Located in the centre of a misty forest and surrounded by Sakura Blossoms lies the Kamisato Estate. From Ayaka's tea room you can spy Inazuma City and the Raiden Sh**un's castle.



There are lots of events coming with Genshin Impact 2.0. The tower defence-esque minigame, Theater Mechanicus, is arriving in Inazuma with some changes and Ley Line Overflow is also returning with double rewards for completing Blossoms of Wealth and Revelation.

There's also the Phantom Flow event that offers rewards for completing challenges on varying difficulties. But the biggest highlight of all is the Thunder Sojourn event that lets players recruit the Electro claymore-wielding pirate captain, Beidou, to their team by gathering event currency.

Which bosses will we be fighting?
Inazuma features a variety of new bosses to challenge for rewards:

Ruin Sentinel: This ruin protector takes the form of different creatures, such as a crab, jellyfish, or snake. Each form has its own fighting style and abilities.

Magu Kenki: The mechanised swordsman from the Golden Apple Archipelago will be available to fight in Inazuma.

Pyro Hypostasis: A new variant on the elemental construct, the Pyro Hypostasis features new attacks and elemental weaknesses.
There are also new enemies wandering the wilderness including groups of bandit Ronin and a new member of the Fatui called the Mirror Maiden.

Genshin Impact 2.0 is bringing gardening to the game. By using the Seed Dispensary acquired from Madame Ping, one can collect seeds in the open world and plant them by buying beds with Realm Currency in your Serenitea Pot. After a certain period of time has passed, one can harvest the flowers.
