Gen Z activist Miraj Dhungana, announced they will boycott elections until a direct executive system is introduced. At a press conference, Dhungana said they plan to form a new political party to organize Nepal’s Gen-Z youth.

The group clarified it will stay out of elections until two key demands are met: direct election of the executive head and voting rights for Nepalis living abroad.

“We will keep fighting for good governance and anti-corruption. National development requires everyone’s cooperation,” he said.

KP Sharma Oli has criticized the government for banning him from leaving the Kathmandu Valley, calling it an undemocratic move. He said no one can stop him from traveling anywhere in Nepal.

He said, “चुनाव गराउने रे ! झापा मेरो घर जलाइयो, जान नपाउने । साँगा कटेर जान नपाउने रे! म नेपालभित्र जतिबेर आवश्यकता छ, त्यतिबेर जान्छु। के कानुनले समाउँछ, के कानुनले थुन्छ? कुन लोकतन्त्रले थुन्छ मलाई थाहा छ । जथाभावी गर्ने ? मनपरी गर्ने ?”

The government has limited foreign trip delegations to three officials. Since six parliamentary officials could not travel together, they were split into two groups and went to Geneva, Switzerland.

National Assembly Chairman Narayan Dahal is leading one delegation. They will attend the 151st Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) conference. The second group will also reportedly attend related parliamentary meetings.

Both delegations are expected to return to Kathmandu on 9 Kartik evening.

Nurses at Manipal Teaching Hospital and Gandaki Medical College (GMC) in Pokhara have been protesting for over a week, demanding fair salaries in line with government standards.

The nurses claim they currently earn Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000, far below the government-mandated minimum salary of Rs 34,730 for a fifth-level staff nurse.

The Sushila Karki-led government recently directed hospitals across the country to provide equal pay to nurses in private hospitals. However, both hospitals have said they cannot meet the nurses’ full demands.

President Ram Chandra Paudel was kept at the Special Person Protection Directorate office in Narayanhiti Palace on the night of 24 Bhadra during the Gen Z protests, according to the Nepali Army. He returned to the building behind Sheetal Niwas the following day.
