This article is a real wake-up call.
Help us help you keep your art as a valued profession.

As freelancers, we're at liberty to choose the price tag we attach to our work, and many of us have and will continue to work for free in support of causes we care a great deal about. We should, however, remain very aware of the consequences of our choices when working for free or at reduced fees.

As soon as a product being free becomes the norm, people feel extorted when a price is asked for the same work later on and so are less likely to pay it. We can't survive working for nothing forever, so we ask that you carefully consider each request you get to work for free going forward.

By standing up for yourself, even if by just mentioning what your services would usually cost the person asking you, you're also standing up for your colleagues and ensuring that we're all able to ask a fee in the future.

For any musicians out there with a good home-studio setup, and who are looking for a platform to promote remote recording services, contact us through our page, or at [email protected]

You set your own prices and keep 100% of your fee!

We'll be opening up the platform to more musicians when our testing phase is completed on July 1st, but we're happy to take your details in the meantime so that we can get your profile live as quickly as possible afterwards.

COVID-19 has exposed the insecurity of the cultural workforce. Making the performing arts freely available online may further diminish their value, right when the sector is arguing its worth.
