Oghara kingdom is located in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria.[1] It is home to the Urhobo ethnic group of Delta State. The town is known for its rich mineral resources. Oghara is mainly an agrarian society and the Oghara people are mainly farmers who specialize it the cultivation and production of farm products like rubber, cassava, palm trees, plantain, bananas, yam, poultry and fish farming. The town is also known for the production of crude oil.

Oghara, sometimes referred to as Oghara kingdom, shares common boundaries to the east with Mosogar kingdom by river Ethiope, to the South with Sapele Local Government Area by the adjoining tributary of Ethiope river, to the North with Edo state by the Osiomo/Ologbo river, and to the South West with Koko in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.Population of Oghara is estimated to be about 400000.

Oghara is made up of two clans namely:Ogharefe and Oghareki. Ogharefe clan consist of the following sub clans or quarters:Edjemwoyavwen, Adagboyerin, Ijomi, Otefe and Ovade while Oghareki clan is made up of Udurhie and Uduaka quarters. Oghara has a non-hereditary kingship system where the Ovie(king)rotates between both clans,Ogharefe and Oghareki. The Iyasere who is officially the spokeperson of the king and second in command also alternates between both clans and usually comes from the clan whose turn isn't the one producing the king. Ogharefe and Oghareki clans operate on a chieftaincy system and they both have their independent traditional councils and community halls (Oguedion) which is headed by the Unugbrogodo i.e traditional prime minister.The present king is Noble Eshemitan with title as Orefe 111 and the current Unugbrogodo of Ogharefe clan is High Chief Stephen Egbivwie of the Ogbojere lineage from Adagboyerin. Oghara has several markets which include Ogharefe market, Oghareki market, Oghara junction market Ugbenu market and the cattle market amongst others.
