Succumbing to mounting Gen Z-led protests, the KP Sharma Oli government in Nepal has lifted its ban on 26 social media platforms, including Facebook and X, after violent clashes left at least 20 dead and over 300 injured across the country.

The demonstrations, sparked by the social media ban and allegations of corruption, rapidly escalated into mass rallies outside Parliament and other cities.

Following an emergency Cabinet meeting, authorities announced the immediate restoration of access and urged protesters to end their agitation.
