Exciting news from our team!

Our new project SOVIET WESTERN has been selected for the TFL Next – Green Narratives! 🌱
We’re thrilled to develop this story over the summer within the incredible framework of TorinoFilmLab, and its new program dedicated to feature film projects that authentically integrate inclusive and environmentally conscious storytelling.

Writer & producer Samaya Hillenbrand and director Daniel Guliyev will be participating in the lab, guided by some of the most inspiring mentors in the field.

We’re also happy to share that Thomas Hillenbrand is on board as co-writer and producer, contributing his creative voice to this journey.

We are thrilled to announce that Doghouse Filmproductions has received a development grant from the regional German fund Hessen Film&Medien for EMPTY HOUSES (WT), the debut feature film by scriptwriter and director Daniel Guliyev. Co-written with Irada Baghirzade, the film is positioned to be an important international co-production with strong potential in the global film market.
The project is developed by Irada Baghirzade at Adari Films, with Samaya Hillenbrand joining as the German co-producer at Doghouse Filmproductions.
This grant will be instrumental in advancing the development of the project and bringing Daniel Guliyev’s vision to life, and we are excited to take the next steps toward creating something truly special.

Daniel did his Master's degree at the London Film School in Filmmaking. His graduation film, BASTARD, had its world premiere at the Palm Springs ISFF. After screening at numerous film festivals including Flicker’s Rhode Island IFF, Encounters SFF, BASTARD advanced to the semi-finals of the 47th annual STUDENT ACADEMY AWARDS. The film won the main prize at the International Changing Perspectives Short Film Festival and the Special Jury Prize at the Kazan International Film Festival.
After graduating, Daniel started working as a director and DoP. In 2024, his debut feature as a cinematographer, THE RETURN OF THE PROJECTIONIST (dir. Orkhan Aghazade), won the 34th Deutscher Kamerapreis, a prestigious German Cinematography Award. Also, in 2024 he received the Best Cinematographer award in the national competition at the Baku IFF for his work on A LONELY PERSON’S MONOLOGUE (dir. Emin Efendiyev).

Throwing it back to three years ago in Berlin, when we had a special screening for our cast and crew of The Man on the Other Side during Berlinale! Such a memorable moment with the team who made it all happen!

Following the exciting news that our producer, Samaya Hillenbrand, has been selected for the 2025 East & West Inspirational Lab at When East Meets West in Italy, we’re thrilled to share another milestone! 🎉

Samaya has also been awarded a Special Prize from TorinoFilmLab, securing a spot in the TFL Next Workshop for our upcoming feature project, written by Samaya Hillenbrand and Thomas Hillenbrand at Doghouse Filmproductions! This incredible opportunity will allow them to refine the project’s treatment with guidance from international script consultants, collaborating with talented peers from around the world.

We’re beyond excited for the journey ahead and can’t wait to share more about the project in the coming months. Big things are on the way!

We are thrilled to announce that our producer, Samaya Hillenbrand, has been selected for the 2025 edition of the East & West Inspirational Lab at the The 15th edition of When East Meets West, the prestigious international co-production forum!
The East & West Co-Production Inspirational Lab offers an incredible journey through the co-production and distribution opportunities between Europe and Latin America, highlighting key regional and national funds, as well as major support schemes like Eurimages, Ibermedia, and Creative Europe.

We are thrilled to announce that our new feature project HEARTBEAT has been selected for the official programme of the 21st Sofia Meetings! Sofia Meetings is a co-production market supported by the Creative Europe - MEDIA sub-programme of the European Union, BNFC, Sofia Municipality and Ministry of Culture.
Scriptwriter and director Sergej Waldrat and producer Samaya Hillenbrand will present the project in Sofia this Friday!

"Netflix will release an exciting spy film on Thursday: The Man on the Other Side . In this Singaporean-German-made thriller set during the Cold War, a secretary gets into trouble for stealing government documents.

The Man on the Other Side is praised by connoisseurs for its realistic and therefore gritty portrayal of the espionage world. The film is further described as 'ambitious' and 'refreshing'.

The print was nominated for several awards at various film festivals. So it is definitely worth checking out."

The Man on the Other Side is available on Netflix from the 13th January 2023.
