We get many questions about food photography and styling when it comes to cookbooks. On our website, we have a whole section of tips and tricks to help you with photography, should you choose to include photos in your cookbook. This is actually entirely optional!
Styling your food photos doesn’t have to be stressful; chances are, you already own plenty of items around the house that can elevate your images. Here are four household items you likely already have that can enhance your food photography:
1. Variety of Dishware: Look for different patterns, colors, and shapes to plate your dishes.
2. Serveware & Flatware: Vintage pieces with a touch of wear and tear can add depth and character to your setup.
3. Linens: Whether it’s napkins, tea towels, or kitchen towels, use these cloths to add texture and warmth to your setup.
4. Tools: Raid your kitchen drawers for items like measuring spoons, doilies, strainers, and twine. These everyday objects are great props for ingredient shots!
