Initially, I thought our current Wrep is a rare gem, one that would lose sleepless nights because of sons and daughters of the peasants in our beloved County. Recently, I did some digging and my findings were shocking. What is more fascinating is that many share the same thought. I realized all the jobs Amina secured so far were strategically and politically motivated and aligned with her 2027 re-election aspirations. Some of the youths who got the opportunity are great friends of mine. I don't have a problem with any of them, and in fact, I am thrilled they secured the opportunity. What I don't understand is why a leader would block youth who toiled and moiled in the corridors of a classroom, acquire their legitimate certificates and apply for jobs only to fail to be shortlisted because a certain leader has brought a name from Tana River County that should be considered. Our youths apply for jobs, fail to be shortlisted and if you look at their CVs, you'll be shocked at how detailed it is with so much attachment and internship experience. We sometimes even wonder what criteria is the Public Service using to shortlist candidates only to realize they have been held hostage by political leaders who only care about their re-election. Let our youths battle it out; you lobby for who you want later, but do not curtail them at the initial stage. So this is a clarion call to you, Mheshimiwa Amina. What you are doing is hurting Tana River youths who do not come from influential families, whose voices do not matter so much in Tana politics.
I am writing this even if others will not, to remind you that the tears of the desperate, jobless and connectionless youth are very dangerous. The purpose for the creation of the Wrep position was to echo the voice of the less privileged members of our society, in particular women and youth(in particular girlchild), who, up to now, none of the Tana Girl girls have featured in the employment you have secured so far. Whatever you choose to make out of this post is up to you, but that is the truth. Change or otherwise your current position has a very bad history. Ask your predecessors, they'll tell you!!
