💌 A Love Note ✍🏾 To: Ms Denise™
Life-Saving Love — CPR + Reflection on Ernest and In God’s Hands
Ms. Denise, it’s Sunday morning, and there’s so much I want to share with you about my weekend.
Yesterday, I went to support a friend at her first inaugural golf outing for her foundation, In God’s Hands. She started it with her mother and her son — after her son survived a sudden cardiac arrest, a coma, and a long fight for his life during the COVID crisis.
I’m a golfer, so I wanted to play and support, but the price point wasn’t in reach this time. Still, I wanted to be present — because that’s one of my values. Sometimes that’s hard when business, health, and life are all pulling at me.
I realized I could show up in another way. I volunteered. That’s my lane — creating space, holding space, helping things flow.
When I got there, I found out they were teaching CPR. As part of the fundraiser, you could learn CPR and enter a raffle. I didn’t expect it, but I jumped in.
And as I learned the amount of pressure it takes to keep someone’s blood flowing to the brain, I had a powerful reflection…
When my husband Ernest died, I was there. I found him with bloodshot eyes and foam at his mouth. Had I known CPR then, things might have been different.
I’m not dwelling on it — but I felt the magnitude of what I was learning. CPR is the difference between life and breath… and death.
This training was born from my friend’s son’s story — and his desire to help others. And now I get to carry it forward.
So here’s my encouragement to you, Ms. Denise:
If you haven’t already, get CPR training. Many places offer it for free. Share the opportunity with everyone you love. This isn’t just about saving a stranger — it might one day be about saving someone who is your whole world.
