Wanna say THANK YOU to all those who ordered digital copies of my novel, IMPROBABLE ENEMY and are letting me know how much you enjoy it. I know the archaic language is a bit of a struggle (English didn't really exist as a language in the 1500s) but I can hear my francophone friends laughing their a**es off...after all, in that era French, not English, was predominant!
I'm still thinking of podcasting it on my podcast Peculiar Pet Tales Podcasts and even turning it into a play for high school students (lots of action, romance and the tasty s*x scenes only come at the end!).
Anyone else interested in reading it, for now just PM me and I'll send the digital version to your email. Thank you again for supporting my creative efforts! ❤️

My most recent novel IMPROBABLE ENEMY, an historical romance set in the Elizabethan period is available by email for anyone who wants to read it. It's 400 pages long so you can either read it online or print it up. Anyone interested can just PM me with their email addy and I will send it to you.
Although based on my podcast story, A KNIGHT OF CADIZ, this novel is nothing--I mean, nothing!--like the short story, and the writing is nothing like my first novel, www.groundmannersnovel.com

Here's the storyline:
She will be made to pay
for the sins of her mother...

In 1596, during England’s devastating attack on the Spanish port of Cadiz, a Spanish serving-girl defending her virtue accidentally kills a lustful English knight, steals his identity and flees to England to avoid hanging by the English marauders. There she discovers she bears the name of the Queen of England’s most despised adversary—a royal assassin sworn to depose and kill the heretic daughter of Anne Boleyn. Her ex*****on is imminent.
Awaiting death in the Tower of London, all Clara’s hopes of survival and returning to her father in Spain are ended unless her late mother’s servant Gwynne Pryce can persuade the Queen’s cousin and premier lady-in-waiting, Kate Carey, Countess of Nottingham to plead for her life. Together, the two women almost succeed in saving Clara until her Majesty’s handsome favourite De Vere, Earl Devon intercedes, inciting a jealousy so murderous in the ageing Queen that Clara’s deadly fate now seems inescapable.

Overjoyed to announce that I have finished writing my second novel, IMPROBABLE ENEMY after nearly 3 years of being squirrelled up in my room drowning in research, writing and endless editing! It's all done and dusted now and I'm very happy with how it turned out.

I'll let you know as soon as I start podcasting it. And there is a "peculiar pet" character in it who weighs 1200lbs and runs like the wind. Yes! The Andalusian stallion, Corazon, who featured in my short story, A Knight of Cadiz! Stay close, everyone.

For all lovers of Historical Fiction: THE MIRROR AND THE LIGHT, 3rd novel in Hilary Mantel’s award-winning trilogy, WOLF HALL, is being broadcast on PBS starting March 23, 2025.
[excerpt PBS website]
May 1536. Anne Boleyn, Henry’s second wife, is dead. As the axe drops, Thomas Cromwell emerges from the bloodbath to continue his climb to power and wealth, while his formidable master, Henry, settles to short-lived happiness with his third queen, Jane Seymour. Cromwell, a man with only his wits to rely on, has no great family to back him, and no private army. Navigating the moral complexities that accompany the exercise of power in this brutal and bloody time, Cromwell is caught between his desire to do what is right and his instinct to survive. But in the wake of Henry VIII having executed his queen, no one is safe....As fortune’s wheel turns, Cromwell’s enemies are gathering in the shadows. The inevitable question remains: how long can anyone survive under Henry’s cruel and capricious gaze?

I can't recommend Mantel's trilogy enough--her writing is brilliant and her grasp of the bloody-minded culture of Tudor England is chilling. These BBC Playground adaptations are superbly produced, have won (like the novels) several awards and are meticulously faithful to Mantel's vision.
