🎬 Three Danish films eye the Oscars. The Danish Film Institute has shortlisted Den sidste viking by Anders Thomas Jensen, Begyndelser by Jeanette Nordahl, and the documentary Mr. Nobody mod Putin by David Borenstein and Pasha Talankin as candidates for Denmark’s official Oscar entry in 2026. On September 17, one will be chosen to compete in Los Angeles.

Did you know we could influence local and national politics?
💡What is a borgerforslag? A borgerforslag is a tool that lets people put their proposals on the political agenda. Nationally, if 50,000 people support your idea, Parliament must debate it. Fewer know that regional councils also allow borgerforslag on local issues such as healthcare or transport. Until now, Region Sjælland required 5,000 signatures. From this autumn, just 100 signatures will be enough.

🧸 Free daycare as an election promise in Copenhagen. Socialdemokratiet’s (Social Democrats) lord mayor candidate Pernille Rosenkrantz-Theil wants to make nurseries and kindergartens free, calling high living costs the city’s biggest problem for young families.

Great news for our wallet : 😀👇⚡ Power bills set for a big cut. The government plans to reduce the electricity tax from 72.7 øre per kWh to the EU minimum of 0.8 øre in 2026 and 2027, effectively nearly eliminating the tax altogether. A typical family could save about 4,000 DKK a year. The move costs 14 billion DKK and will help offset food prices, which remain 19% higher than the EU average
