Nearly 400 walkers braved fog, rain and visibility of just 50 metres to take on Dartmoor’s 11 Tors Challenge 🌧️🥾

The soaking-wet trek has already raised more than £7,760 for Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Tavistock — helping the volunteers who save lives in some of the moor’s toughest conditions.

An 800-year-old piece of Tiverton is hiding in plain sight — and bringing it properly back to life could cost up to £150,000. 💧

From Victorian filth and mayoral rows to dunkings, medieval engineering and tonnes of debris, the Town Leat has seen almost everything.

Now there’s an ambitious plan to get water flowing through Castle Street again.

They told him cheaper pub tables were all Exmouth needed. He ignored them. 🎱

Just four weeks after opening Cue Station, David Freer is already nearing 250 members, rival clubs are asking if they can copy some of his ideas and a big-money snooker, pool and darts challenge is on the way.

Not bad for a man who had never run a snooker club 12 months ago. 👀

Cullompton could have trains stopping in the town again by December 2028 🚆 — but there are still some serious obstacles in the way.

Flood modelling, land negotiations and a change to how the station will be contracted all need sorting before construction can properly get under way. There is some good news too, including a possible new permanent entrance that could make the station much easier to reach from town.

For now, the target remains the same — but nobody is calling it a done deal yet.

A disturbance at Tiverton Town Council left councillors and staff feeling anxious — and now the council has brought in new rules for dealing with disruptive, threatening or dangerous behaviour.

An apology has since been accepted, but the incident has also prompted a clear warning over what will and won’t be tolerated at future meetings. 👀

Jeremy Vine has been imagining what North Devon might look like if the railway had never disappeared. 🚂

Visiting Bideford’s old station with brother Tim Vine, he admitted there was even “a little bit” of him that regretted the cycle path replacing the tracks — before volunteers gave the family a special train ride on a date with an extraordinary railway coincidence.

And yes, he still thinks the Tarka Trail is gorgeous. 👀

Sherford’s green spaces have picked up national recognition 🌳

From a 380-metre living wall and more than 26,000 native trees to wildlife corridors, ponds, wildflower meadows and even a bat bridge, the growing Devon town’s landscaping has now won at the National Landscape Awards.

And there’s plenty more to come — Sherford Country Park is eventually expected to stretch across 500 acres.

A Teignmouth woman vanished while on a short walk in South Africa — and more than a year later, her family says the case should be treated as murder.

Lorna McSorley, 71, has never been found despite an extensive search.

Now disturbing allegations surrounding the disappearance and suspected killing of another British couple in the same South African province have renewed fears about what may have happened to her.
