Platinum #108: Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (PS5)
Grind: 9/10
Only one playthrough is required to complete the trophy list. There are no missable trophies, so I focused first on finishing the main story, then cleaned up the remaining ones. As with the first game, the grindiest trophy requires you to 5-star all 42 facilities available in the game. It took me around 40 hours to complete the story and another 60 hours for the clean-up.
Difficulty: 3/10
The only difficulty-related trophy is the Seasoned Porter trophy, which must be completed on Casual difficulty or above. There’s an abundance of new tools and equipment that make the game much easier to complete.
Fun: 9/10
As with the first game, this is a “love it or hate it” kind of experience. If you’ve played the first one, this feels familiar—but with huge improvements across the board.
The first game was one of the best-looking titles of the last generation, but I didn’t expect such a big leap in graphics and fidelity here. The Decima Engine remains my favorite game engine by far!
Don’t get me wrong—some of the terminologies and ideologies still feel odd—but the flow and narrative are easier to digest this time. Kojima’s quirks, like the random “like” gesture, still get me every time.
COE33 is still my personal GOTY, but I wouldn’t mind if Kojima stole the cake.
Huge shoutout kay Kuya Bols for lending me his digital copy! Salamat pare 🥳
