The leader of the UK’s Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has doubled down on her previous remarks about Nigeria, asserting that she is not a public relations representative for the country.

Her clarification comes in the wake of sharp criticism from Kashim Shettima, who recently accused her of making disparaging comments about her country of origin.

Badenoch, who was born in the UK but spent much of her childhood in Nigeria, has frequently spoken about the difficulties she encountered growing up there.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has justified the demolition of properties in Abuja, stating that he will not be intimidated by blackmail.

Wike explained that the structures targeted for demolition by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) were illegally constructed on government land.

“Let me use this opportunity to tell Nigerians and residents of Abuja, we are not afraid of blackmailing,” the minister said during the distribution of operational vehicles to security agencies at the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday.

“In fact, you cannot be in this kind of position and say you cannot be blackmailed particularly as regards this Abuja. There are so many land grabbers. Some of us have come to put our feet down. Let heaven fall.

Nigeria’s bilateral relationship with Germany has resulted in an improvement in electricity supply, an official announced on Wednesday.

The collaboration includes the management of two transmission power substations by German electricity giant Siemens, Nigeria’s power minister, Adebayo Adelabu, told journalists in Abuja following a meeting between the presidents of Nigeria and Germany.

According to Mr. Adelabu, the partnership encompasses “the installation and commissioning of 10 power transformers and 10 power mobile substations,” which has “added nothing less than 750 megawatts to our transmission grid capacity.”

Mr Adelabu said as part of the partnership, “Simiens is actually implementing the Brownfield and Greenfield transmission substations of the Presidential Power initiative.⁣”

He explained that since the signing of the agreement in Dubai at COP 28 last December, the country has made significant progress.

A major financial scandal has rocked the Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with allegations that funds from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), intended for educational development, were diverted to finance party activities.

A petition obtained by SaharaReporters claims that the APC State Working Committee received N325 million from TETFUND between October 2023 and October 2024 for party operations.

Mrs. Patricia Yakubu, the APC Women Leader in Adamawa, raised the alarm in a petition to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, accusing top party officials of embezzlement and mismanagement of the funds.

The Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, has issued a stern warning to bandits, terrorists, and other criminals to leave Nigeria, declaring that the Nigerian Army under his command is coming with full force.
