We're delighted to say that we will once again take part in the next Intelligent Speech Conference on 28th February 2026! It’s the online event where history podcasters and others join to present and discuss all things history.

The theme of the 2026 conference is Companions and Rivals and whilst we have chosen our subject, we’ll reveal more later in November! 😉 We’ll be then to share our discount code too!

It has taken us a while, but we have finally created score cards for all the rulers we have covered so far on our podcast Kingdom: Swedish Rulers! You can see the scores in each category and if they achieved the true honour of being awarded The Three Crowns! 👑👑👑 Here's the template we will be using.

We've covered over 20 Swedish rulers so far on Kingdom. Some were bad, some were good, some had s*x with some we crushed into meatballs. A select few were given the honour of the Three Crowns.

In this episode, we sit back and review where we've gotten to in our timeline and what the scoreboard looks like for our Swedish rulers.

Last time around on Kingdom, we reached the reign of Valdemar, meaning we are one third of the way through ranking all of Sweden's rulers! 😱

This Sunday we look back at the first of our three "eras" of Swedish history, which we have arbritrally created, and see who has been the best in our various categories. Which dynasty has performed the best so far and which ruler has been the most scandelous?

It's going to be a fun recap before we continue on with the story 😃

We spent an entire episode discussing the Polosh submarines that were interned outside Mariefred during WW2. There was a small memorial ceremony there recently, attended by the Polish embassy to mark the 85th anniversary of the submarines' arrival in Sweden. Some nice photos here!

It's Sunday and time for the start of a new dynasty. In our longest episode yet we see an example of perhaps the biggest s*x scandal in Swedish Royal history. Welcome to the reign of Valdemar!

More from beautiful Cartagena and its Old Town! It was fascinating to learn about the city's history; from the role it had to play in the Spanish Empire and slavery, to pirates in the Caribbean and its contributions to modern Colombian history! Lots of statues and historical monuments around.

Then there are the city walls, which were were built to protect the city from enemies like the British and French, and mean that there's quite a contrast when you see the "Mini Miami" of the modern city skyline in the distance!

We've been to visit Cartagena on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, where we went to see the home of Rafael Núñez, the first President of modern Colombia!

He helped write the first Constitution, the lyrics to the national anthem and much more. Very interesting place! It was actually his wife who owned the building before they were married and so the guide said that it was a very wise decision of Rafael Núñez to marry such a wealthy woman!

On Sunday we went to the Gold Museum in Bogotá, which is home to the world’s largest collection of pre-Hispanic gold artefacts.

Over 55,000 pieces of gold and metalwork are displayed, crafted by Colombia’s oldest cultures. Some of the pieces are truly stunning. There's also a photo of Åsa pretending to be a museum piece...

When the rebels against King Erik XI look at Knut's credentials, they see that he is very tall and he's been in the regency council.

But will this make him a good ruler himself? Time to find out!
