NOW COMMEMORATING | Eugenio Perez Day
Today, November 13, 2025, Pangasinan honors the legacy of Speaker Eugenio Perez, the first
Pangasinense to serve as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Born in San Carlos, Pangasinan (now Brgy. Obong, Basista, Pangasinan), Speaker Perez
entered the world of politics in 1926. With an unwavering commitment to his people, he went on
to serve as the Representative of the second district of Pangasinan from 1946 to 1957. He also
became a driving force behind the cityhood of Dagupan through Republic Act No. 170. Beyond
this, he contributed greatly to the nation's history through key legislative measures such as the
Bell Trade Act and the Party Rights Amendment to the Constitution, both of which helped shape
the country’s political and economic landscape. Through these remarkable achievements, his
dedication to public service, leadership, and education continues to inspire generations of
Pangasinenses to this day.
Declared under Republic Act No. 6721 and Executive Order No. 0128, Series of 2025, this day
stands as a Special Non-Working Holiday in the province, a moment to celebrate a life devoted
to the nation and its people.
We remember with pride the legacy of a remarkable Pangasinense leader.
