A M7.3 earthquake struck south of Alaska's Aleutian Islands around 10 minutes ago, triggering a tsunami warning.

Aside from the risk of a tsunami in Alaska, there is only a slight possibility of damage on land from this earthquake.

A few aftershocks have followed, and the USGS is forecasting hundreds of them over the next week.

Waste Collection Service Update – Tuesday, July 15, 2025

The City of Lathrop continues to monitor the labor-related service disruption affecting Republic Services and multiple municipalities. While the City is not a party to the negotiations, we remain hopeful for a resolution that will restore full service as soon as possible.

Republic Services has informed the City that all residential customers will have had their trash carts serviced at least once since the start of the work stoppage on Tuesday, July 8, by tomorrow.

This week, limited service continues with a focus on trash collection only. Republic Services has indicated the following adjusted schedule starting with Monday customers being serviced starting on Wednesday. Recycling and organics pickup remains on hold at this time. Residents are asked to continue placing carts at the curb on their regular service day and to leave them out until collected.

We appreciate the community’s continued patience during this disruption and will provide further updates as new information becomes available.

Austin Road will be closed to through traffic from south of E. Yosemite Avenue/Highway 120 to north of Graves Road.

📍 Detour signs will be in place to help guide drivers around the closure.
