This was also a good video that I really enjoyed making with Talk In Code. We filmed it at QMC and the idea was to have a kind of black space, with loads of bright lights. We got there and set up what we had, but it wasn’t nearly enough. So the lighting guy said he had loads more in the other building, so went and got a bunch more. I’ve always liked the way it kind of looks a bit like a space ship. I also love the silhouette shots. Rather than having a light shining at them, we used the projector and loaded up the single cover image and had it moving and also a demo idea I’d had for the song, which was of stars and galaxies in space. I got on the floor behind them with the camera and faced up towards the projector, resulting in some nice silhouette shots.

So this is the song that the Talk In Code guys won the award for tonight - All In. I seem to remember the idea for the video was meant to kind of keep travelling forward. Loosely, in the back of my mind, when I was editing it, the song and the brief kind of made me think of a night out in London I had when I was 18. I went to see Iron Maiden at Earls Court with someone. After the gig, we got stuck in the queues for the tube station. We were heading back to Stoke Newington. We got half way across London and the tube closed for the night, so we had to get off and walk the rest of the way. So for the video, I kind of thought about going from wide open spaces, countryside etc and as the song progressed, kind of channel down, getting closer together, eventually being on a tube train, which then stops momentarily.

Check out the song, it’s brilliant. Congratulations once again guys!

A great day up in Harrow yesterday at Adrenaline Studios, putting some finishing touches onto a project that I've been working on for them for the last few months. More info on it later in the year... It's such a cool place, Adrenaline - a brilliant ADR studio and some awesome people that work there!

Amazing that they’re still able to play those size shows over there in Mexico, USA and Canada. I definitely thought their popularity had dropped a lot by now over that side of the pond. Great to see they’re still going strong.

I’m going on a holiday with the family next week to South Wales and one of the days, we’re popping up to Aberdare and Cwmaman to see some of the places I went to when I was a kid, when my dad took us up there for meetings with the band.

I’ll always remember the first time I went to Cwmaman, back in 1996. We were parked up outside Kelly’s parents house, waiting for him to come home from work. It was hot, it was summertime. So Kelly’s mum invited us in to get changed, so we could go and play in the swimming pool opposite their house. I was only 11 at the time and my brother was 8. We got changed in the bathroom and left our clothes all over the floor. My dad was so embarrassed and called us back in to clear them all up. Beryl said, no, don’t worry about it, she knew what it was like bringing up young boys! Ha. A nice little village Cwmaman, it’s been so long since I last went there, so will be nice to see the place again. Let’s hope the sun holds out and we all Have A Nice Day! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Ah ha! Awesome! I remember walking past here loads of times on way to the uni’s studio behind it. I remember walking through once when the Downton Abbey trailers were there, I think it may have been the costume and make up department. As I walked through, I think during the filming of season 3 possibly, the actor and actress that played Barrow and Daisy, were walking back through.

The Daisy actress had no reason to remember or recognise me, but I’d previously chatted to her when I worked at the Carnarvon Arms, round the corner from Highclere Castle. The wrap party for season 1 was held at the bar and I was serving that night. I served all the main cast and crew and the Daisy actress was the one that told me the name of the show. I misheard and thought she said Downtown Abbey. I thought it was going to be some little daytime TV show on ITV, that no one would watch… How wrong I was! I also remember seeing the actress that played Mrs Patmore there once and chatted to some of the woodwork set designers too. Such a great place Ealing Studios!

I remember being there that day. I was working in one of the studios in the next building over. She went to visit the Downton Abbey set in the main studio. I remember walking in through all the crowds behind the barriers, having to show my ID at the gate and then walking through to the studio I was working in. I remember recording a bunch of guitar and bass tracks and then by the time I left, it had mostly all cleared away.

Ealing Studios was such a cool place to be, such an inspiring place for students. One of the coolest parts of the place was the alleyway that led through to the toilets, which was a bit of the older part of the studio lot, where they had a big list of the movies that were filmed there over the years! An iconic part of British film history, Ealing Studios.

A great day up in Cannock Chase, near Wolverhampton filming Kentucky country singer, for podcast - a long old walk to the filming location, but it looked great! We recorded a few of his songs, so now time to head back and edit it all together!

RIP Val Kilmer – A Legend On and Off the Screen

Sad news about Val Kilmer. My first memory of him was as Batman in the '90s. Top Gun was a little before my time - I didn’t actually get around to watching it until a few years ago. I saw bits of Tombstone over the years, but it wasn’t until recently that I sat down and truly appreciated it from start to finish.

When we visited Tombstone this February, the only bar open was Doc Holliday’s Saloon - a really cool place with local character and Tombstone memorabilia. In fact, there were probably more pictures of Val Kilmer in there than of Doc Holliday himself. That says everything about the impact of his performance.

He was incredible in every role he played, but Tombstone was on another level - no one could have embodied Doc Holliday the way he did. "I'm your huckleberry"!

A legend was lost today. Rest in peace, Val Kilmer.

A wide-ranging leading man who earned critical praise, he was known to be charismatic but unpredictable. At one point he dropped out of Hollywood for a decade.
