Radley Lavaiamat of Twin Tribe fame asks about the soon to be released Singsing app…
Radley: ‘What’s the catch?’
SingSing: Fair Royalty, prevents music piracy, provides PNG fans online payment options from BSP, Kina Bank. No need for visa card. Royalty payments calculated on individual song download. Artists nominate royalty rate per song, for instance, K1.00, K1.50 or K2.00, way better rates than other streaming services.
Radley: 'What are the rates for?’
SingSing: When you upload your song, you pick a royalty rate for that particular song. Using the nominated rate, that song is paid accordingly for each download. Take for instance a song by Twin Tribe, 200 downloads in a month at nominated rate of K2.00 is K400.00.
Radley: 'So royalty comes through downloads, that’s nice, I'm all support because I feel artists are tired of the current scheme of things, besides, this platform will be where artists see fan support'.
Radley: 'How about the transparency side of things?’,
SingSing: Based on your nominated rate for a particular song we add mark-up, plus GST to get a selling price for a song, the artist however, reaps 70 percent of royalties based solely on his or her nominated royalty rate whilst the music distributors take the remaining 30 percent. Singaut and Garamut Music, are two online music distributors in PNG, with the latter covering Momase and New Guinea Islands region and the former responsible for music from the Highlands and Southern region. The 30 per cent take goes for their gateway service.
Radley: ' I really think this will explode if you are thorough on social media'.
SingSing: Thank you Radley.
