Dr. Chol Deng Thon’s Corruption has affected the University of Juba.
This morning, the whole city of Juba was shocked by the news coming from the university that many students, perhaps 50%, are barred from entering the campus. According to VC Prof. Akec, students are asked to pay the tuition fees before sitting the examination, which is expected to kick off this morning, 17th Feb.2026.
According to reliable sources, most students are enrolled in a sponsorship program led by the Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC), particularly those from the oil-producing areas in Unity and Upper Nile states. The Directorate of Community Development in GPOC pays these students' fees annually. However, Dr. Thon assigned a very incompetent manager to the position, who failed to address the matter with the University administration. According to Mr. Mangesto Angelo Mayiik, the former CD manager at GPOC, there was a ready budget for this course, but he doesn’t know what transpired after he left the office. The money disappeared, leaving thousands of students as victims, as they are not going to sit the exam. The government must hold Chol Accountable for the alleged corruption. Chol only embezzled government funds for personal benefits. Now, people should go to Facebook Road to see the progress of his tower's construction, which was halted for almost two years after he was removed from his role as Managing Director at Nile Petroleum Corporation. This is the corruption at its peak!!!!
