"The villains are fairly obvious in โ€œFlower Moon,โ€ but Scorsese asks audiences to take a wider look at systemic racism, historical injustice and the corruptive influence of power and money, intriguingly tying together our past and present." ~ Brian Truitt,
"Gladstone, in the rare Scorsese film that gives center stage to a female character, is the emotional core here, and it's her face that stays etched in our memory."
~ Jocelyn Noveck
โ€œThis is for every little Rez kid, every little urban kid, every little Native kid out there who has a dream and is seeing themselves represented in our stories told by ourselves, in our own words..." ~ Lily Gladstone

Wes Studi is a native American Cherokee actor and Vietnam veteran.

His first language was Cherokee an Iroquoian language and he didn't learn English until he started grade school.
His native language is an endangered language.

Did you know? Kurt Russell once quietly paid tribute to Val Kilmer without taking credit.
When the 1993 Western classic Tombstone was released, Val Kilmerโ€™s unforgettable performance as Doc Holliday was widely praised โ€” many believe itโ€™s one of the greatest portrayals in the genre. But few people knew just how much Kurt Russell fought behind the scenes to make the film greatโ€ฆ and how much he supported Kilmer.
For years, it was rumored that Russell actually ghost-directed large parts of the movie, stepping in after conflicts with the original director. In a 2006 interview, Kilmer confirmed the rumor, saying:
"Kurt is solely responsible for Tombstoneโ€™s successโ€ฆ He saved the film."
But hereโ€™s the remarkable part: despite all that, Russell never took credit. He wanted the film โ€” and especially Kilmerโ€™s performance โ€” to shine on its own.
Later on, Russell said of Kilmerโ€™s Doc Holliday:
โ€œWhat Val did with that role is something very few actors can touch. He was brilliant.โ€
Over the years, even as Val Kilmer battled throat cancer, Russell never spoke publicly for attention โ€” but those close to the project say he still speaks of Kilmer with โ€œdeep admiration and brotherly respect.โ€
Their bond, forged through grit, talent, and trust, gave us one of the greatest duos in Western film history.

The Significance of Colors in Native American Culture ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿชถ
In Native American traditions, colors hold deep meaning, often linked to emotions, spirituality, and warfare. Each tribe has its own customs and ways of interpreting these colors, especially when used for face painting. Below are some of the common meanings behind these symbolic colors:
๐Ÿ”ด Red: Represents war and violenceโ€”a powerful color of strength and determination.
โšซ Black: Contrary to most cultures, it symbolizes the living and is often used on warriors' faces during battle.
โšช White: A symbol of peace, often associated with harmony and new beginnings.
๐ŸŸข Green: When painted under the eyes, it grants the wearer night vision and heightened awareness.
๐ŸŸก Yellow: Known as the color of death and mourning, it signifies someone who has lived fully and is prepared to fight until the end.
๐ŸŒ Native tribes cherish and honor their individual traditions, and the way colors are used in face painting varies across different communities.

Kimberly Norris Guerrero (nรฉe Norris; born 29 November 1967), is an American actress in film, TV, and stage; and a screenwriter.
๐†๐ž๐ญ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ž๐ž: https://wolfnatives.com/products/best1

She has over two dozen screen appearances, generally playing roles of Indigenous women. Norris played Gen. Custer's American Indian wife in the movie Son of the Morning Star, and guest starred in TV shows such as Walker, Texas Ranger, Longmire, Grey's Anatomy, and Seinfeld. She appeared in the well-received mini-series, 500 Nations, and twice played Cherokee chief Wilma Mankiller. Norris-Guerrero is also a college professor, motivational speaker, Native American activist, and co-founder of two non-profit organizations to aid youth in Native American communities.
Norris was born in 1967 in Oklahoma to Linda Standing Cloud. After being adopted by the Norris family at the age of five months, she was raised in Idabel, Oklahoma. Her adoptive parents exposed her at an early age to the Native American culture that was her heritage. Her mother, Kay Norris, ensured that she started learning native dance and song from the local Choctaw community by the age of six. As a high school student, Norris was a cheerleader and also won the title of Miss Oklahoma Teen at the 1985 statewide pageant. She went on to win the National Teen title that year. She graduated from Idabel High School soon after, and, wanting to be close to Hollywood to fulfill a childhood dream of acting, attended UCLA, where she obtained a degree in History.
As of May 2021, Norris-Guerrero is working as an associate professor in the Department of Theatre, Film, and Digital Production at the University of California, Riverside, where she also serves as the current artistic director.
Norris is married to actor and music composer Johnny Guerrero. They reside in Southern California. She is an enrolled reservation member of the Colville Indian tribe and has Salishโ€“Kootenai heritage. She is the sister-in-law of UCLA's former athletic director, Dan Guerrero.
Norris and her husband helped co-found the Akatubi Film and Music Academy, which was started to aid in the training of Native and non-Native youth residing in tribal communities who are interested in careers in the film and music industries. The StyleHorse Collective, designed to relate the life stories of Indigenous communities and individuals through film, music, and online production, was also co-founded by Norris.
Norris has been a finalist for the Rockefeller New Media Fellowship, The ABC-Disney Television Writing Fellowship, and the Humanitas Award in Screenwriting.
