Lunch breaks at work are dangerous.

Should i enter the scottish half marathon?

Edinburgh Marathon is finally done.

That was honestly the hardest marathon I’ve ever experienced.

I was ill, the heat was brutal, my body cramped up and emotionally it hit me harder than I expected.

A few weeks ago I wasn’t even sure I’d make the start line because of the knee problems, so despite everything I’m grateful I got through it.

Definitely not the race I imagined — but probably one I’ll remember most.

A few weeks ago I genuinely wasn’t sure I’d even make it to the Edinburgh Marathon start line with the knee problems.

Now it’s one week away and I’m honestly just excited to experience it.

Training hasn’t gone perfectly, but I’ve learned a lot through the setbacks as well.

Still building.

I’m getting close to the end of this cut now, which means shifting focus again.

Rebuilding calories, preparing properly for the marathon in two weeks, and starting to think about what comes next.

I’d like to add around 5kg of lean mass and improve my 5k time moving forward.

It’s strange because the hardest part isn’t really losing the weight anymore — it’s figuring out who you become after.

People see the progress, but they rarely see the part behind it.

The late nights, injuries, setbacks, self-doubt and the days you feel like stopping altogether.

I think that’s the part that really changes you though — continuing anyway.

Still building.

Fitness after 30 feels completely different sometimes.

Less free time, more stress, slower recovery… and it’s easy to feel like you’re falling behind.

But I think a lot more people are dealing with this than we realise.

Anyone else relate to this?

When I started this journey, I asked AI what I’d look like at 80kg and 10% body fat.

At the time, I was 93.5kg and honestly struggling with how I looked and felt.

That AI image became a target in my head.

I’m now down 13kg and closer than I’ve ever been — but still building.

That’s probably the biggest thing I’ve learned through all this: progress is never really finished.

A lot of runs feel harder than they should, and it’s easy to assume it’s fitness.

But more often than not, it’s just poor fuelling — not enough carbs, or eating at the wrong time.

Even small changes like eating 60–90 minutes before a run or refuelling properly after can make a big difference.

Anyone else noticed a difference when they fuel properly?
