Brufut Ghana Town Crisis:
The Gambian Immigration Department and the Independent Electoral Commission must urgently address growing concerns surrounding the situation in Ghana Town, Brufut.
It is unacceptable for the government to issue voter cards to Ghanaian residents while simultaneously denying them valid Gambian documentation. This contradiction raises serious questions about fairness, transparency, and the true intentions behind these actions.
The people of Ghana Town cannot be exploited for political gain. Granting them voter cards but refusing to process their citizenship documents is unjust and discriminatory.
If these residents are considered eligible to participate in national elections, then they should also be granted the legal pathway to obtain Gambian citizenship.
The authorities owe the public a clear explanation. The integrity of our democratic processes depends on it!
Gambians need an explanation from the immigration department and the Independent Electoral Commission on how these people were issued with voters cards without proper Gambian documents!
